CITY ORDINANCE.
AN ORDINANCE to license Paw.rbruker?, and
to define their Powers and Privileges.

gage iu the busiucra of pawnbroktug within tbs

City Council, and tha price of raid license hull
ba four hundred dollars per annum.
SBC. 2. And be it further OrAafmd, That the
applicant for thia license shall giro bond, with
two good and approved securities, to the City
Council, in the sum of five thousand dollars,
conditioned U> make good all damages sustained
by the aurclcssaocs, neglect, or unfair de ding of
(bo pawadtrnker. This bond may, at the re
quest of an injured pasty, be assigned to him or
her, by tbe d/ayor. or i.e deposited in tbe Court
whore such party is seeking retreca until the,
case is decided.
Sec. 3. And be it Ottlker Onlaiued, That upon
all articles, personal or real estate, panwed,
pledged, or deposited as collateral, the pawn
bivker may advance such sum as u>»y be agreed
wijb his customers, and charge no more than at
the rate of “even per Cent, per month.
Sue. 4. Ami be it jarther Ordained, That upou
failure, on the part of the customer, to redeem
the articles or things pledget! at the appointed
time agreed ou, then, and after the eiptfarion of
three nttmtbs thereafter, the pawnbroker may
tall such article or things, provided, six daily
notices of sale is given through two city news
papers, and the customer shall have the privi
lege ot rede ining raid article or thing up to the
time of said sale.
Sec. 5. lie it further Ordained, That no pawn
broker .-ball .receive, byway of pledge or pawn,
say goods, articles or things whatsoever from
any minor, apprentice, or servant, knowing or
having reason to believe him or her to be such.
Sec. 11. And be it further Ordained, '1 bat it
shall be the doty of every pawnbroker to admit
to his or her premises the Chief and Captain, or
any of the Lieutenants of the Police, at any

Without the formality of a writ of search warrant.
