HENBY CLEVELAND, Editor. A. POPBTA, GK/l. « & WEDNESDAY MORNING, JAN. 31.1806 Marriage or Mrs. Douoi.as.— As al ready announced, the marriage of Mrs. A dele C. Douglas with Brevet Brigadier General Robert Williams, U. 8. A., took place Tuesday night at the residence of Mrs. Douglas, on New Jersey avenue. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Lynch, assisted by Rev. Father McGuire, of Georgetown College. A number of promineut personages were guests at the ceremony. The Star says: The dress of the bride was madeof white carded silk (high in the neck), and a rich tulle veil. The bridegroom ap peared in full military uniform. The rooms were elegantly decorated with flowers, and the display of diamonds, pearls, and splendid dresses of the ladies presented a sight at once charming and interesting to the spectator. The new ly married couple very’sensibly dispensed with the formal stereotyped bridal tour, and spend their honey moon in Wash ington. Fenians, Stand from Under. —The Cincinnati Catholic Telegraph of last week, has the following important an nouncement : V The Pope has, authori tatively, condemned the Fenian organi' ration. This settles the question, and leaves but one course for true Catholics to pursue, which is so obvious that we will not mention it. The Holy Father has spoken the voice of the universal church,-And Fenianism is condemned!” New A dvertis ■ merit*. Plant the Corn. ND PLOUGH IT— AND SHELL IT— AND SELL IT. J.
