$$ xmrm&r. fllE LifiGEST WHCIiATION. Monday Horn n*6.—..... ty»wh nTi 866 [For the Daily Press.] Where do the Righteous Dwell f BY *. M. W. The following paraphrase of the beau tiful poeutentitled “Where does the Water Spring,” is affectionately inscribed to Mr. an I Mrs. Montgomery upon the deoease of their respective mother*, Mrs. bydia Mont gomery, and Mrs. Letitia A. Rennick : Where do the righteous dwell, blessed and bright ? In the blue sky above, Basking in light and love. Born of the spirit, transformed by its might Raised from their lowly bed, ■ goon to bright mansions sped, Uniting their voices in songs of delight. Where does the spirit go, when breath is stilled ? Not to a land of gloom Beyond the darksome tomb, If its province on earth has been rightly fulfilled; But to those realms of peace, Where all our sorrows cease, And our hearts are no more bj adversity chilled. Where do the righteous reign, powerful and grand ? There in their happy home, Where no afflictions come. In that blissful Eden, the famed spirit-land j Now no lfcnger they sleep, But blest company keep, With their Saviour and angels, a numberless band. What is the pledge of God, given from heaven ? That soothes all onr cares, That protects us from snares, And affords the sweet solace of errors for given; That comforts us here, And when fell death is near, Supports and consoles, though earth's ties are riven. 'Tis the Bible of promise 0 treasure divine— May thy precepts so blest, Dervade every breast, Control every heart and illumine each mind; Thro’ life be our guide, What e’er may betide, And teach us in death to be sweetly resigned.
