If any business man in Augusta, or anywhere else, doubts that the Daily Press is the best medium through which to advertise in this city, we invite him to call at our OlHco, any afternoon, and we will take pleasure, as a matter of business, in showing him the number of papers we print daily. The Municipal election will take place on the second Monday, the Dili day, of April next. It will he a question of import ance, who shall be elected to fill these posi tions ? Men aro to be chosen to whom are to be entrusted the interests and destinies ofa great and growing city. llow important that they should bo well qualified for the trust. It is folly for any citisen to say that he has no interest in the matter, that he does not earo to vote. It is the iuterest. nay, the duty, of every citizen to vote—not like machines, but with judgment and intel ligence, with a view to the good of the com munity, the prosperity of the city. Every one who is entitled to vote should exercise the privilege ; but they should se lect those men whom they know, or believe, to be best qualified to fill these offices. They should see that the candidates are men of intelligence, of energy, of judgment, of moral worth, of pleasing address, of legis lative capacity, and of financial ability. These are the qualifications which our muni cipal authorities should possess ; and it is <he duty of voters to place such men in pow er. By doing so, they improve the finances of the city, strengthen its credit, aud .secure its prosperity. They ensure a faithful and zealous discharge of duty in all the subor dinate departments of the city government, and win for it, not only the respect and con fidence of our own citizens, but of financiers and business men abroad. Let us not, therefore, be unmindful of the approaching election. Let us not be luke warm or careless in the exercise of the right of suffrage on that occasion ; but per form the doty as becomes good citizens having only the interest and the prosperity of our city in view. Colored Troops. —lt is said that within a short time some 40,000 colored troops in the South will be mustered out of lervice ; 3,000 iu South Carolina will be mistered out. The people of the South will le thankful for this, simply because they elieve they can get along better without hem. The white troops are better ealeu ited to preserve order aud protect the in gests of the Government; and if they are 11 as orderly as those in Augusta, the »uth will have nothing to complain off in tat respect.
