Y.. from an overdose of arsenic, which she had been taken in large quantities for a series of weeks iu order to itnptore her com plexion. —On the sth instant a fire occurred at Edinburg. Ind.,involving a loss of $ >,OOO, The Johns in House, Ricketts, MeCor. mick & Co.'s distillery, aud other prop, erty were consumed. —A locomotive on a Western Rai' Road has been adorned with the title, ‘‘l still live.’’ That is more than many of the passengers cun say, at the end of their journey. —The great bridge across the Ohio river at Cincinnati is said to be nearly completed. It is two thousand feet loop ami one of the spans, measuring nearly eleven hundred feet, is said to be the lonpest in the world. —General Sheridan orders that all persons embarking from New Orleans I for Vera Cruz. Tampico, or Matamoras. Mexico, must have passports from the Provost Marshal. The order causes much remark iu the New Orleans papers, which say it is against the Confederate colonies. —The Civil Rights law is to be trsted in the Memphis Courts. The third class iron clad Miantonoinah and the paddle-wheel steamer Ashelot will con stitute part of the fleet to be dispatched by the Secretary of the Navy to the Gull of St. Lawrence, for the protection of American fishermen. —When a lady (we are talking of a lady in the full height of fashion, says the London Punch ) has got her bonnet and gloves on, and is perfectly ready with her parasol in hand, she always goes back to the looking glass to take a last fond look.
