in their own faces.
—The British fleet now off the Cana
dian coast is manned by 5.717 men, and
carries an aggregate of 438 guns.
—IVe are never more deceived thMt
when we mistake gravity for greatnesk,
solemnity for silence, and pomposity fey
erudition.
—Lucy Stone says: “The cradle-is a.
woman’s ballot box.” Then we’ve kuown
some unlawful voting where two ballots
were deposited at a time.
—General Finnegan has located at
Ftinandina, Florida, and is devoting
himself to developing the future metrop

approaching the dignity of one of the
fine arts.

lessen the amount of human wretched

it constantly in the presence of fresh
water. In a milk room provided with
tubs, in which the water is changed
twice a day, milk will not be soured,
even by lightning.

endeavoring to obtain a government

to be put to rest by the Irishman who
went courting when drunk, and was
asked what pleasure he found in whiskey?
“Oh Neily, it’s a trate entirely, to see two
of your swate purty faces instead of one!”
—Mr. Jesse L. Holiday, a well-known
