This i M custom has, we re gret, grown into disuse in these latter days. But we arc pleased to learn that it is about to bo revived in two cases, one of which fholl ho nameless for the present. ‘This day. betwv u 10 and 1?. has been sot apart Mr the revival of this time-honored custom, upon which Occasion a levee will bo held at the (.’< urt House in order to re-inaugurate it with till doe cemnoi y. This information was conveyed to us Thursday night by t* gentleman at Masonic Hall, who stated that two magnificently worked Indie** robes had been presented to a cirr Bather undone of his officials, and that Saturday was the day set apart f<*r the donning of tiio embroidered gowns. Iu an cordauce with this programme the Blooming clerk of Council will hold his grand recep tion this morning as above stated, dressed in his scarlet robe 3 , upon which occasion ho will.perform sundry gymnastic teats, such as dancing a jig upon a sod of Irish turf, balanced on a tight rope, and numerous other wonderful feats, never before witnessed iu the city of Augusta. The public, especially tho ladies, are Invited to-ho present, as the gentleman in question has been presented by Mr. Phalou, in anticipation of the event, with a large supply of bis Night Blooming Cos reus, the most delicious of perfumes, nil of which will by distributed gratuitously by tho liberal and courteous Bloomkk. Tickets for admission can be procured at the Daily Pre»n office, corner Broad and Mclntosh streets. Tho foregoing is only another sad evi dence of the mental aberration under which the “meek 'mild eyed melancholy youth” who presides over the local destinies of our estimable cotemporary ‘'aor-.v- the way” is sufTertog. The failure of tho O’Mahoney Fenian movement, is attributed as the prin cipal cause of this unfortunate result. It is however, also strongly hinted, that jealousy— ‘•That green eyed lobster, Which feeds upon the things it loves—” has hinl something to do with it—jealousy of our good fortune in receiving seen an unlimited number of bouquets and the ap proving smiles of so many handsome young ladies, as has lately h«eu the case; and jealousy also, of our good fortune in drawing at tho Fair, the regal robe to which he so wittdy refers. Poor fellow! we pity him. In fact, he hasMcen already pitted. A writ quo warranto hnutttco has been issued iu his case, and the unfortunate young man wi’l lie tried for lunacy, on Monday next, “between 10 and 12 o’clock, A. M.,” before tbe Inferior Court at the City H&B. Previous to tbe trial he will deliver an address on Fcnianism, and, being a f«nny man. he will take up p. collection in behalf of the Fenian fund. At the dose of tho address he will sing tho following songs: **The weariu, ov the Croon” (in costume) ; “The Bloom is on the Bye) j” anu “I’m Not Myself at All.” A collation of ‘VVklstt rarebit, boiled Irish potatoes, aud “Cruiskeon Lawn” will le served up. Admission gratis. Lucky.—ln these latter days, it. is ordained thufoa lady who is to be married shall hare a compete outfit iu her ward robe for at least two years ; said outfit to be provided by the aawl damsel’s parents; and for a gentleman it is absolutely necessary that ho should have a studying gown,- or de rftaiitbre —also one pair of elegantly wrought- and embroidered slipper*, so that, while ho is in the bouse, tho baby he not startled from its slumbers, or disturbed when in c immune with tbe any vis.
