A woman in Chicago, recently, was caught putting a live child into a coflin with the intention of burying it. —There is a man in Cincinnati taxed on an income of §30,000 who eleven year ago exhibited. a monkey in the streets for a living. —Lieutenant Geuenl Grant has in structed the Military Department Com manders to abolish the Districts under their command as rapidly as circum stances will permit. —The famous trotting horse, Dexter, was sold by auction on Union Course, Long Island, not very long since, so» $14,000. —The latest invention is the “palpi tating bosom," tor the ladies, which gently “heaves” by the touch of an emo tional spring concealed uhder the left arm. —Dr. Ilall, in an elaborate article in his Journal oj Health, on cholera and jts treatment, takes, the ground that calomel is the only remedy, and that to employ any other is to trifle with human life. —When the sewerage of Paris is complete, the canals will contain not OIA v the water and gas pipes of the city, but atso o,(, telegraph wires of the city com patties. More than a thousand steam voyages across the Atlantic will be mode during the present year by the vessels of iY.fy el ._ ent Hues.
