URCKS'FcITyTi RCIILATION. TUESDAY MORNING June 6, I8B« The Civil Ru-.uts Bill.—lVo find through our exchanges a list of pro posed amendments to the Civil Rights Bill. Though without credit, we judge the}’ are from the pen of the irrepressi ble “Mack,” the Washington corres pondent of the Cincinnati Commercial. Some of the penalties are rather higher than the progressive spirit of abolition ism has yet reached, but there is no saying what it may come to. Hero is a list of the penalties proposed : For neglecting to step off the pave ment as Sambo or Dinah passes, a tine of five dollars. For neglecting to bow and take off your hat to them, a line of three dollars and a half. For refusing to shake hands, eight dollars. For refusing to kistt a wench when vou meet her, seventy-six dollars and thirty days imprisonment. For neglecting to nurse their babies in street cars or churches, thirty-six dollars and ten days imprisonment. For neglecting to see one home from church, twenty dollars. For passitig them on the street with out smiiiug, two dollars. » For asking them to work, twelve dol lars. For refusing to invite them to your table with you. forty dollars. For believing that you are as good as a negro, five hundred dollars and three years imprisonment. For saying that you are better that; a negro, ten thousand dollars and fifty years imprisonment. For refusing to marry one. imprison ment for life and the confiscation of your property. For saying the Government was made by white men, for white men,.six thous and dollars fine and fifteen years im prisonment.' '* - , For'saying the white soldiers fought as bravely as did the “colored troops,” two thousand dollars and three years imprisonment. For relusi ng your daughter to any buck negro that wants her, to be hung by the thumbs until dead, and have your wife and children turned out on the highways to starve. The fines in all cases to be turned over to the executive committee of the Abolition party, aud when the money is not to be had, Benjamin F. Butler is to be sent in order to collect it in spoons, or whatever else lie may be able to find. Revival or a Lost Art* —lt is stated in an exchange that a Mr. Distnan, of Upper Sanduskey, Ohio, has discovered the process of hardening copper, and has secured a patent for it. The art is supposed to have been lost since the days of King Solomon. The material is properly called silicitated copper, and can be worked without friction. All necessity for oiling machinery made from it is obviated. The Cleveland, Columbus & Cincinnati Rail Road is now testing the prepared metsl, and in case of its success are prepared to give the inventor SIO,OOO for its use on their Road. There is much excitement and interest in Upper Sanduskey over the subject. Plumbing and Gas Fitting. C. K. WARNER, H LUMBER. 1 GAS and STEAM FITTER, lu roar of 255 Broad street, Augusta, Geo. The MICA ROOFING is adapted to build ings of every description, and can be ap plied to Steep or Flat Roofs, or over old Shingle Roofs, without removing the shin gles. We recommend its use on Factories, Foundries, Store Houses, Cotton Sheds, Railroad Depots and upon all buildings where steam is used, and a Fire Proof re quired. 7t> 3ir It costs about one-half the price of Tin. It is cheap, durable, and is easily and quiskly applied. The upper surface of the Rooftug is protected from the action of the weather, by its covering of Ground Mica, which is pressed inio the water proof com position. making a hard surface of stone, beautiful in appearance, and a sure protec tion against fire. We shall also keep constantly on hand a supply of INDIA-RUBBER ROOFTNG PAINT, which is the best coating that can be used for Tin Roofing. Leaky Tin Roofs can l>e readily repaired, so as to last many years, at a trifling cost, which would in many cases save the expense of anew Roof.
