€trr pity f rfSS - City Printer—Official Paper largkstcitT^circijlation. WEDNESDAY MORNING.... July 18, 1866 Bars in the Lane. After the milking was over Annio would follow tho cows Half a mile, down to tho clover, And turn them in to browse. Neat little figure is Annio, Handling the bars in the lane, Letting down over so mauy Just in the sunlight’s wane. Wild roses blooming beside her, Match not her cheeks’ lovely red; And the leaves trying to hide her, Dance at her musical tread. Witching eurls peep from her bonnet — Peep like bright birds from their nests! And her heart—oh ! to havo won it— Peeps with a gentle unrest. Lips may be humming a ditty, And faces may show unconcern ; But secrets there are—what a pity That some are so easy to learn ! Now whilo the robins are nesting, Why does she wait in tho lane ? Though, if white arms need a resting, No one, of course, oould complain. Lights in the farm house aro gleaming, And bars must be laid in their place, But little Annio stands dreaming, A blush on her beautiful face. Is it late? Not that she cares now ; Ah ! merry eyes, mild and brown, Could you not tell why she wears now Just the least might of a frown ? Over the path by the hill-side Some one would wander by night; Some one who came from the mill-side, Lured by two eyes that are bright. Meadow and valley grows stiller Under the earlier stMs; AVould it be strange if The miller Helps Annie to put up the bars ? A CERTAIN CURE F°r this Disease may be found in the use of Hr*}'-? PERRY DAVIS’ VEGETABLE Dain JKiller, St. Louis, Mo., Jure 14, 1849. Jfr. A T. Woodioord , Aycnt of Perry Pavin' Pain Killer : Dear Sir : I feel it a duty I owe to the public, to make known the value of Perry Davis* Pain Killer, and my experience in using it for some of the complaints for which it is highly recommended. In April last, on your recommendation, I purchased a one dollar bottle of you for pains with which I have long been afflicted, and made use of it on my trip down to New Orleans, with the most gratifying and beneficial effects. On my rct%-n to this city, the Cholera made its appearance among some of my passengers. I made use of the Pain Killer, having no other remedy on board, and, to my surprise and gratification, found it gave immediate relief’ On my arrival in St. Louis, I called on you and got four large bottles, and stated to you my confi dence in it as an infallible Cholera remedy, aud remarking to you that I wanted no other Cholera remedy on my boat. I made use of tho four bottles on my trip to New Orleans and back, for Cholera and some other complaints for which it is recom mended, and met with the most astonishing success ; when I ordered from you six more one dollar bottles. Since then I have made two more trips to New Orleans and back; and on my previous trip up I had more than SEVENTY CASES OF CHOLERA on board, when tho PAIN KILLER was immediately used with the most astonishing results. In all cases where it was used in time, it gave relief in a very short time; and I can, with confidence, say to the pub lic, that in all the first stages of Cholera, when taken in time, it is, in my opinion, an infallible remedy! and after a fair trial with it for several weeks, and for four trips to New Orleans and back, and using it for Cholera and other complaints for which it is recommended, no consideration whatever would induco me to leave port without a good supply—believing it to be a medicine that no officer of a boat or any family would be without a single day after using one bottle ; believing it to be the most valuable family medicine known to the world for all the different complaints for which it is recommended. P. S.—Please send me six large bottles for this trip. J. M. Buoadwell, Captain Steamer Adriatic. T most cordially unite with Capt. Broad well in recommendiug Perry Davis’s Pain Killer to the public, having myself been severely attacked with tho Cholera, and found relief in a few hours by using the Pain Killer, and have myself administered it to more than fifty persons attacked with the Cholera, and when used in time, a cure was effected in a few hours, and take pleas ure in recommending it to the public as an invaluable medicine, that no individual should be without a single hour. J. F. Boffington, Clerk Steamer Adriatic. Davis* Pain Killer. —ln to-day’s Union will be found aa advertisement of this cele brated remedy. The certificates appended from the captain and clerk of the steamer Atlantic we know to be genuine, aud founded on facts, as they verbally stated in our office the substance of what they pub lish. — St. Louis Union.
