Merry, merry bellr, whore jingle Make onr very heart »tring» tinglo, When you call us to a wedding, Tell us, tell us, of a merry wedding. •‘The pretty maidens come—the joyous maiden, With light and love and beauty laden — Como flocking in—they need no urging, And, kneeling to the Holy Virgin (’Twas ever so since the world began), Fray Heaven will send them, too, a man.” Happy, happy belle, whoso ringing, Soon the wedding party back is bringing, Tell us now, we all are listening, Tell us of a happy christening. “The pretty maidens come again, and wild With joy, caress and kiss the child, Caress and bless the mother. Wink and nod and nudge each other, And wise as Croesus each, or rather, All together say ; ‘How like its father !’ ” Gay, gay old bells, fine times and jolly, These : but have no days of melancholy ? No sadder notes than these to ring ? Is’t ever thus youth’s joyous spring? “Ah ! no ; the Autumn cometh hero As everywhere, the yellow leaf and sere ; Then sad wo toll the funeral bell, The solemn dirge, the funeral kuell. l!ut ever ’tis new life we ring, New joys to earth and Heaven wo bring— Thu birth on earth is joy maternal, The birth in Heaven is life eternal.” —We notice in one of our Indiana ex changes the marriage of Dr. Thomas N* Lyon to Miss Mollie Lamb. Another scriptural prophecy in process of fulfill ment. “ The lion and the lamb shall lie down together,” and, nfter a while, *• a little child will lead them.”—[lndia napolis Journal. —One item of expenditure of llol' loway, the English pill man, is £25,000 a year for advertising; and among the charges for salary appear sums paid to 200 women whose sole duty it is to look after the advertising, and see that the “ cures” and so forth are duly pub lished as ordered. —There are said to be living near La Crosse, Wisconsin, in one school district ; live brothers who, in two years, were married to live women who have had be fore eleven husbands, eight of whom are still alive. A CERTAIN CURE For this Disease may be *'/ found in tie use of M&ihTiL'.' PERRY DAVIS’ VEGETABLE J?ain JKiller, St. Louis, Mo., June 14, 1849. Mr, A T. Woodizord, Ayent of Perry I J avis' Pain Killer : Dear Sir : I leel it a duty I owe to the public, to make known the value of Perry Davis’ Pain Killer, and my experience in using it for some of the complaints for which it is highly recommended. In April last, on your recommendation, I purchased a one dollar bottle of yon for pains with which I have long been afflicted, and made uso of it ou my trip down to New Orleans, with the most gratifying and beneficial effects. On ray return to this city, the Cholera made its appearance among some of my passengers. I made use of the Pain Killer, having no other remedy on board, and. to my surprise and gratification, found it gave immediate relief! On my arrival in St. Louis, I called on you and got four large bottles, and stated to you my confi dence in it as an infallible Cholera remedy, and remarking to you that I wanted no other Cholera remedy on my boat. I made uso of tho four bottles on my trip to New Orleans and back, for Cholera and some other complaints for which it is recom mended, and met with the most astonishing success ; when I ordered from you six more oue dollar bottles. Since then I have made two more trips to New Orleans and back; and on my previous trip up I had more than SEVENTY CASES OF CHOLERA on board, when the PAIN KILLER was immediately used witfi the most astonishing results. In all cases whore it was used in time, it gave relief in a very short time; and T can, with confidence, say to the pub lic, that in all the first stages of Cholera, when taken in time, it is, in my opinion, an infallible remedy! and after a fair trial with it for several weeks, and tor four trips to Now Orleans and back, and using it for Cholera and other complaints for which it is recommcndod, no consideration whatever would induce me to leave port without a good supply—believing it to be a medicine that no officer of a boat or any family would be without a single day after using ono bottle; believing it to be tho most valuable family medicine known to the world for all the different complaints for which it is recommended. P. S.—Please scud me six large bottles for this trip. J. M. Broapwell, Captain Steamer Adriatic. I most cordially unite with Capt. Broad well iu recommendiug Perry Davis’s Pain Killer to the public, having myself been severely attacked with the Cholera, and fouud relief in a few hours by using the Pain Killer, and have myself administered it to more than fifty persons attacked with the Cholera, and when used in time, a cure was effected in a few hours, and take pleas ure in recommending it to the public as an invaluable medicine, that no individual should be without a single hour. J. F. Boffingtox, Clerk Steamer Adriatic. Davis* Pain Kit.ler.—ln to-day’s Union will be found an advertisement of this cele brated remedy. The certificates appended from the captain and clerk of the steamer Atlantic we know to bo genuine, and founded on facts, as they verbally stated in our office the substance of what they pub lish. — St. Louis Union, The PAIN KILLER is sold by all Drug gists. ju2B—2m DRUGS, MEDICINES, Etc.
