LAKGESTCinpIIU'ILATION.
FRIDAY MORNING
I Charge of Bodes’ Brigade at Seren
Fines.
Down by the valloy, ’neath thunder and
lightning, ... . .
Down by the valley, ’mid jetting* of light,
Down by the deep crimsoned valley o»
Richmond,
The twenty-five hundred moved on to the
fight;
Onward, still onward, to the portals of
glory,
To the sepulchred chambers, yet never
dismayed ;
Down by the deep crimsoned valley of
Richmond,
Marched the bold warriors of Rodcs’
Brigade.
See ye the fires and flashes still leaping?
Hear ye the pelting and beating of storm ?
See ye the banners of proud Alabama
In front of her columns move steadily on?
Hear ye the music that gladdens each com
rade
As it floats through the air 'mid torrents
of sounds ?
Hear ye, booming adown the red valley,
Carter* unbuckles his swarthy old
hounds ?
Twelfth Mississippi! I saw your brave col
umns
Rush through the channels of living and
dead;
Twelfth Alabama ! why weep your old war
horse ?f
He died as you wished, in the gear at
your head;
Seven Pinos ! ye will tell on the pages of
glory,
How blood of the South ebbed away in
the shade,
How the lads of fought in the red
valley,
And fell in the columns of Rodes’ Brig
ade.
Fathers and Mothers! ye weep for your
jewels,
Sisters! ye weep for your brothers in
vain,
Maidens ! ye weep for your sunny-eyed
lovers —
Weep, for they will never come back
again !
Weep ye ! but know what a halo of glory
Encircles each chamber of death newly
made,
And know ye that victory, shrine of the
mighty,
Stands forth on the banners of Rodes’
Brigade.
Daughters of Southland! come bring ye
bright flowers ,*
Weave ye a chaplet for the brow of the
brave;
Bring yo some emblem of freedom and vic
tory,
Bring ye some emblem of death and the
grave;
Bring ye some motto befitting a hero ;
Bring ye exotics that never will fade ;
Come to tho deep crimsoned valley of Rich
mond
And crown the young who led
his Brgade.

CHOLERA.

For this Disease may he

HafedL PERRY DAVIS’
VEGETABLE
3?ain JKiller,
St. Louis, Mo., June 14, 1849.
Mr. A T. Woodward, Jyent of Perry Davit*
Pain Killer :
Dear Sir : I feel it a duty I owe to the
public, to make known the value of Perry
Davis’ Pain Killer, and my experience in
using it for some of the complaints for
which it is highly recommended. Jn April
last, on your recommendation, I purchased
a one dollar bottle of you for pains with
which I have long been afflicted, and made
use of it on my trip down to New Orleans,
with the most gratifying and beneficial
effects. On my return to this city, the
Cholera made its appearance among some
of my passengers. I made use of the Pain
Killer, having no other remedy on board,
j and, to xny surprise and gratification, found
it gave immediate relief! On my arrival
in St. Louis, I called on you and got four
large bottles, and stated to you my confi
dence in it as an infallible Cholera remedy,
and remarking to you that I wanted no
other Cholera remedy on my boat. I made
use of the four bottles on my trip to New
Orleans and back, for Cholera and some
other complaints for which it is recom
mended, and met with the most astonishing
success ; when I ordered from you six more
one dollar bottles. Since then I have
made two more trips to New Orleans and
back; and on my previous trip up I had
more than
SEVENTY CASES OF CHOLERA
on board, when tho PAIN KILLER was
immediately used with the most astonishing
results. In all ea a es where it was used in
time, it gave relief in a very short time;
ands can, with confidence, say to the pub
lic, that in all the first stages of Cholera,
when taken in time, it is, in my opinion, an
infallible remedy! and after a fair trial
with it for several weeks, and lor four
trips to New Orleans and back, and using
it for Cholera and other complaints for
which it is recommended, no consideration
whatever would induce me to leave port
without a good supply—believing it to be a
medicine that no officer of a boat or any
family would be without a single day after
using one bottle; believing it to be the
most valuable family medicine knowu to
tho world for all the differeut complaints
for which it is recommended.
P. S.—Please scud mo six large bottles
for this trip.
J. M. Broadwell,
Captain Steamer Adriatic.
I most cordially unite with Capt. Broad
well in recommendiug Perry Davis’s Pain
Killer to the public, Having myself been
severely attacked with the Cholera, and
found relief in a few hours by using the
Pain Killer, and have myself administered
it to more than fifty persons attacked with
the Cholera, and when used in time, a care
was effected in a few hours, and take pleas
ure iu recommending it to the public as an
invaluable medicine, that no individual
should bo without a single hour.
J. F. Boffington,
Clerk Steamer Adriatic.
Davis’ Pain Killer. —ln to day’s Union
will be found an advertisement of this cele
brated remedy. Tho certificates appended

founded on facts, as they verbally stated in
our offico the substance of what they pub
lish. —St. Louis Union.
