iTci RCELATION.
SATURDAY MORNING Aug. 25, 1866
I A Widow for Me.
I>t youth dug th« praise of blushes,
And thrill with the rapturous bliss
That riso unbidden, and flushes
The brain at the thought of • kiss.
It is all very well to be ladeu
With passionate joy when you see
The tnnooent blush of a maiden,
But the glance of a widow for mo.
Not a flg would I giro for the rapture
That swells in the breast of a boy,
When Cupid has helped him to eaptore
A hoarding-school casket of joy.
I don’t care tor bloom and fine dresses —
But Paradise comes when I see
A widow in weeds and soft tresses —
Ob I that it a charmer for me.
Then let youth sing the praises of beauty,
And kneel bofore maidenhood’s shrine,
To ringlets and blushes pay duty,
And dream that such things are divine.
But give me the flash that entrances,
The heart that was bound and is free,
The eye with a soul in the glauoee—
Oh ! a gentle young widow for me.

CHOLERA.
A CERTAIN CURB
For thia Disease may be
found in the use of
PERRY DAVIS’
VEGETABLE
Pain. JKiller,
St. Louis, Mo., June 14, 1849.
Mr. A T. Woodward, Agent of Perry Davie'
Pain Killer : ,
Dear Sir : I feel it a duty I ewe to the
£ublie, to make known the value of Perry
Avis’ Pain Killer, and my experience In
using it for some of the complaints for
which it is highly recommended. In April
last, on your recommendation, I purchased
a one dollar bottle of you for pains with
which I have long been afflicted, and made
use of it ou my trip down to Now Orleans,
with the most gratifying and beneficial
effects. On my return to this city, the
Cholera made its appearance among some
of my passengers. I made use of the Pain
Killer, having no other remedy on board,
and, to my surprise and gratification, found
it gave immediate relief! On my arrival
in St. Louis, I called on you and got four
large bottles, and stated to you my confi
dence in it as an infallible Cholera remedy,
and remarking to you that I wanted no
other Cholera remedy on my boat. I made
use of the four bottles on my trip to New
Orleans and back, for Cholera and some
other complaints fbr which it is recom
mended, and met with the most astonishing
success ; when I ordered from you six more
one dollar bottles. Since then I have
made two more trips to New Orleans and
book ; and on my previous trip up I bad
more than
SEVENTY CASES OF CHOLERA
on board, when the PAIN KILLER was
immediately used with the most astonishing
results. In all cases where it was used in
time, it gave relief in a very short time;
and I can, with confidence, say to the pub
lic, that in all the first stages of Cholera,
when taken in time, it is, in my opinion, an
infallible remedy! and after a fair trial
with it for several weeks, and tor four
trips to New Orleans and hack, and using
it for Cholera and other complaints for
which it is recommended, no consideration
whatever would induce me to leave port
without a good supply—believing it to be a
medicine that no officer of a boat or any
family would be without a single day after
using one bottle; believing it to be the
most valuable family medicine known to
t the world for all the different complaints
for which it is recommended.
P. S.—Please send me six large bottles
for this trip.
J. M. Broadwell,
Captain Steamer Adriatic.
I most cordially unite with Capt. Broad -
well in recommending Perry Davis’s Pain
Killer to the public, having myself been
severely attackod with the Cholera, and
found relief- in a few hours by using tbe
Pain Killer, and have myself administered
it to more than fifty persons attacked with
the Cholera, and when used in time, a cure
was effected in a few hours, and take pleas
ure in recommending it to the public as an
invaluable medicine, that no individual
should be without a single hour.
J. F. Boffington,
Clerk Steamer Adriatic.
Davis’ Pair Kii.lku.—ln to-day’s Pin’on
will be fouud an advertisement of this cele
brated remedy. The certificates appended
from the captain and clerk of tbe steamer
Atlantic we know to be genuine, and
founded on facts, as they verbally stated in
our office the substance of what they pub
lish, —St. Louie Union.
