The 28,000,000 of 1801 had only increased by 9,000,000 in 1851. —The census of Huntsville has been completed. It shows the total popula tion of the place to be 3,213 whites, aud 2,248 blacks. A Richmond paper thinks there should be anew cabinet officer, called the Secretary of the Exterior, and ap pointed from the South. —There are 7,440 Odd Fellows in California. They own thirty valued at $300,000, and other property valued at $500,000. —The “enamelled face” is the latest novelty at Newport. The work, which is done in Paris, costs SI,OOO, and will last four years with proper care and a placid expression of countenance. —Last year, in Massachusetts, 25,026 persons were married, of whom 7,574 couples were purely American, and 4,839 were either foreigners exclusively, or “mixed.” —The man who first introduced the [aiming mill into Scotland was derided as an atheist.
