LARfIESITciTY* CIRCULATION.
THURSDAY MORNING Sept. JO, 1866
Gathering Heart'a-Eaae.
IT JHAR IKfIKLOW.
I want io gather heart's-eaae,
When the bright (tin aank to reit,
Drswiog all hi* •heara* of aunlight
To hia garner in the west:
'When the bloaaoms and the leaves,
Losing all their golden glow,
In the slowly gathering twilight,
Faintly fluttered to and fro.
All the ground was starred with May blooms,
Every where they met my eye j
But I went to gather heart'e-ease,
So I passed all others by.
Oh 1 my heart was ne'er so Joyous
As it was ia those glad hours,
When I wandered light and careless
Near the wood side, gath’ring Bowers.
Then I gave them all to you, dear,
And I looked up in your face,
And I wondered I could fancy
That the flowers had any grace.
Then it was I gathered heart’s-ease,
Then it was, dear heart, I found
That the glory of the May blooms
Did not lie upon the ground.
—Some twenty negroes recently in
sisted on riding in the ladies’ car of an
Ohio railroad. The brakesman refusing
to admit them, they said “they bought
first-class tickets, nnd they were deter
mined to have their seats wliar dey
choosed to take 'cm--peaceably if they
could, but forcibly if dey must,” and at
tempted to force the door. A fight
ensued, in which the darkies were
worsted.

PERRY DAVIS’
VEGETABLE
ain
Wo beg to call the attention of the pub
lic to this long tested and unrivalled
FAMILY MEDICINE.
The PAIN KILLER is a purely vegeta
ble compound ; and while it is a most e -
ciont Remedy for Pain, it is a perfectly safe
Medicine even in the most unskillful hands.
FOR SUMMER COMPLAINT,
Or any other form of bowel disease in chil
dren or udults, it is nn almost certain euro,
and has. withont doubt, been moro success
ful in curing the various kinds of
CHOLERA
than any other known remedy, or even the
most skillful physician. In India, Africa
and China, whero this dreadful disease is
ever more or less prevalent, the
PAIN KILLER
is considered by the natives, as well as Eu
ropean residents in those climates, a SURE
REMEDY. Asa Tonic for tbo Stomaoh, it
is unrivalled. A few doses will relieve se
vere cases of INDIGESTION, and it is
often a perfect cure for
DYSPEPSIA,
in its most aggravated forms. Its tonic and
stimulating properties, arousing the system
to vigor and action, render it a most effec
tual cure for COLDS AND COUGHS, when
used according to directions.
For external applications, it is unsur
passed by any medical preparation.
Rheumatism and Neuralgic Affections are
qnickly relieved and often cured by it. Any
Soreness in tbe Muscles or Joints can be
relieved by its application. It cures in
stantly the most violent
TOOTHACHE.
It should always be kept near at band,
to bo used in cases of sovoro BURNS or
SCALDS. If applied immediately, accord
ing to directions, it will give instant relief,
and prevent blistering.
It is peculiarly adapted to the wants of
SEAMEN, and persons making sea voy
ages, and no vessel should sail without a
supply of it. One Captain writes us: “I
have made several voyages—often with emi
grants, and though I keep a good Modleine
Chest, and I have several times had a good
deal of sickness on board, I have found the
PAIN KILLER so efficient in all cases, as
to entirely preclude the use of all other
Medicines. ’’
