Keeping Bacon ILams, —Make a number of cotton bags, a little larger thilii your Ihatos your hams are well smoked, place them in .(he bags; then gfet tbu best kind of sweet, well made hay, cut it with a knife, and with your hands press it well around the hams in the bags ; tie tbe bags with good strings, put on a card of the year lo show their age, and hang them up in a garret or some dry room, and they may hang “five years, and they will he better fpr broiling than pn the day yon hung them up. This method costs but little, and the bags will last forty years. No flies or bugs will trouble the hams if the hay is well pressed aroJnid them; the sweating qf the bams will be taken up by the hay, and the hay will impart a fine flavor to the hams. The hams should be treated iri this way before hot weather sets in. LontsiXNA Crops. —New Orleans ad ,■dices say the trsp jprospects continue to improve, except in the alluvial regions, aud, in places heretofore free from the army worm, which are invaded by it. The crop of sugar cano will be large, but all who can, will keep the cane to save themselves, or sell for plant cane. The crop of sugar will consequently be small. The Louisiana rice crop will be larger than ever heretofore known. —The paper collar manifthiturerf held a meeting in New York on Tues day, and formed an association in opposition to the Union Paper Collar Company. This company has recently been prosecuting manufacturers for alleged infringements of its patents,, and tbe present organisation is designed to enable tbe manufacturers to oontest the validity Os, those patents. !A fund of $50,000 was subscribed to delray the legal expenses.
