Chancellor LIPSCOMB gives his testi mony in the following terms: CsiVKitstTY or Georgia, 1 Nov. 14 th, 1S««. j “I bnve examined with great care the Goodrich Series of School Readers, edited by Noble Butler, A. M. I consider these Readers admirably adapted to secure the end for which they have been prepared. The selections are judicious, and tho ar rangement is excellent. Reading is here presented as an art; the consecutive meth ods of instruction are thoroughly exhibited, while tho principles of correct and elegant Reading, with the illustrations that em body them, arc so happily introduced, that easy and natural progress may be made. I am particularly pleased with tho NEW SIXTH READER. This work has pecu liar merits. It combines, in an eminent de gree. tho best features of our most pbiio losphie systems of Elocutionary Reading ; and, apart from its other recommendations, is especially worthy of the attention of Teachers on the ground of its eclectic value. I shall introduce the New Sixth Reader into the Elocutionary Department of this Uni versity. A. A. LIPSCOMB, Chan cellor.” “Rutlor’s Grammars impress mo very favorably. So far as I have been able to examine them, they strike me as very suc cessful efforts to adapt the subject of Gram mar to young minds. They teach the pupil how to tbiuk in the study of Grammar; and as most Grammars fail at this point, I can very fully commend these books to the at tention of Teachers. A. A. LIPSCOMB, Chancellor.” Wo could append tho endorsement of these rare Books from all the important Teachers in the City of Augusta, who will h-reafter use thorn exclusively in their schools. We trill vcthe a few short ertrarts from the many Testimonials tve have received from time to time, unsolicited. From Editors. The New York Examiner, says: Every mother and housekeeper mu§toft*n act an a family physician in the many ill nesses and accidents that occur among chil dren and servants. For inßny of these cases, I have used Davis* Pain Killer, aud consider it an indispensable article in the medicine box. In diarrlnea. it has been used and effected cures. For cuts and bruises, it is invaluable. The Editor of the Christian Advocate, says : It is areal pleasure to us to speak favorably of this article, known almost universally to be a good and safe remedy tor burns and other pains of the body. It is valuable not only for colds in tho winter, but for various summer complaints, and should be in every family. A. I). Miller, Editor of J fessevycr, Glens Falls, N. Y., says : 1 here is uo medicine at the present day I value so highly as Perry Pavia* Vegetable Pain Killer. I have used it in my family for years; in every instance it has proved a sovereign remedy. I tested its qualities to-day on a severe burn, and found it all that could be desired. Mr. John Jackson, of the Calais Adver tiser, writes: I know it to be all it is recommended, having used it in my family six or seven years. The Salem Observer ; No article of nudicinc ever attained to such unbounded popularity and extensive diffusion. It has penetrated to every part, even the most remote, of the known world, bearing with it its healing influences more potent than those of the spices of “Araby the blessed.” We are informed by our principal druggists, that they sell more of this article for exportation than of any or all others, aud that the demand is constauty increasing. The Cincinnati Nonpareil, Nov. 14, 1849, says : Seme of our most prominent citizens and business men strongly recommend it to the public as an article of great merit and virtue, and that they never knew any medicine to become so deservedly popular in so short a time. From Clergymen. Rev. J. C. Boomer says : I have used Perry Davis’ Pain Killer with great success in cases of cholera in lan turn, common bowel complaint, bronchitas, coughs, colds, etc., and would cheerfully recommend if as a valuable family modicine. Rev. J. G. Stearns, says: I consider it the best remedy I ever knew (or dyspepsia. Rev. Edward X. Fuller says : I have witnessed the benrlicinl effects of your Pain Killer in eases of dysentery and cholera morbus, within a few months past, and would cheerfully recommend its use to such as inay bo suffering from similar dis cuses, as :i safe and effectual remedy. Rev. A. Webster, Editor of the Christian Ei a, writes : I have used your Pain Killer for many years in my family with much satisfaction. • c2B—2m Snuff St, Tobacco. “ GUERRILLA CLUB.” This popular brand, together with our other Celebrated Brands, the ‘TIA R MON iZ ER AND THE “BIRD’S EYE,” OF SMOKING TOBACCO May bo bad at BLAIR, SMITH & CO.’S, 298 Broad Street, or at NELSON A McILWAINE'S Tobacco Factory, Marbury street, oc9—6m Near Augunta Factory.
