the dawning,
May flutter no moro in the breexe of t e
morning;
A roiee .weeps o'er the dark rolling water.,
And Erin call, now to tior tuns aud her
daughter*:
Oh ! com with tba spirit, the trust, and the
Os the patriot hearts who nobly have died.
And swear by the craves of these patriot
sires
To kindle upon them fair Liberty’s 6res.
Forget not the place where the brave Kmmct
sleeps !
Remember the nation that o'er him weeps!
And write in the bright, glowing letters of
fume.
With the blood of your country, the brave
Eaiaiet’s name!
And where the true souls of such heroes
repose
Grasp vengeance to burl at her insolent
foes,
Till on every hill top of Erin is seen
The harp of her land and her banner of
Green !
Oh! SOM* of the Northland! tee call you
40-day
Oh! sons of tho Southland!—who fought in
the grey !
Our flag in the heat of the battle was seen,
And glory has never deserted the green !
Then, boys in the blue ! —and boys in the
grey!
Say, will you desert the Green Banner
to-daj ?
Proud England would trample on Ireland's ,
sod —
Put trust in your strong swords! aud faith
iu your God!
Crouch not, though the Lion may lie in
your traek!
Let Irish steel drive English bayonet* hack !
Down, doten xcith the Red Coate ! and let the
huzzab
Bing out from each mountain and valley a fax',
That England's proud standard shall never
be seen
To wove over Erin's dear Banner of Green!
Oh! boys in the blue!—and boys iu the
grey !
We call you to battle for Freedom to-day !
Our swords glittered bright whore your
banner was seen,
Let them meet point to point in defending
the grten !
Did England, oh! South, one arm give to
you,
When you cal!ed on the hearts of tho brave
and the true ?
Say, flashed her own weapons your bright
«words beside,
M’hen stemming unaided the fierce battle
tide ?
No! Shame on her Honor —out Ireland men
Proved the worth of her steel, and the
strength of her men !
And never won hero a prouder applause
Than Mitchell! whose heart was so true in
her cause!
And when the red tide swept on like a flood,
"With the blood of the South ran Ireland’s
blood !
Shall the bl*od of the South and Erin be
seen
United again in defending the Green f
Oh ! Ireland ! —fettered, oppressed by the
wrong!—
"Where, where aro the hearts of the gallant
aud strong,
If now they rise not at the sound of her
woes,
To rescue their land from the tread of her
foes?
Strike! Strike ! fill the chain of the despot
is broke,
And Erin is severed from Tyranny’s yoke!
Then gird ou your armor agaiu and come
forth,
Brave men of the South—brave men of the
North !
'Tis Ireland calls you to join in the fray,
Oh! boys in the blue!—and boys in the
grey!
United once more as a nation you stand
And the pride of the world is this beautiful
land.

Did the figjit with the blue?—was she true
to the grey ?
Say, floated her flag with the Stripes and
the Stars ?
Or moved it besido the South’s banner of

Lot the North and the South together be
seen
In waving abovo her’s the Banner of Green !
Then, boys in tho blue ! —and boys in the

Come rally around Erin’s standard to-day;
And God of our fathers ! let triumph he seen,
And glory encircle the Banner of Green !

Opinions of the Press, Clergy, Etr.
11V trill make a fete short extract* /rum
the many Testimonials ire hare received from
time to time , unsolicited.
From Editors.
The New York Examiner , nays :
Every mother and housekeeper must often
act as a family physician in tho many ill
nesses and accidents that occur among chil
dren and servants. For many of these cases,
I have used Davis’ Pain Killer, anil consider
it an indispensable article in the medicine
box. Iu diarrhoea, it has been used and
effected cures. For cuts and bruises, it is
invaluable.
The Editor of the Christian Advocate,
says: 0
It is a real pleasure to us to speak favoisMy
of this article, known almost universally to
be a good and safe remedy for burns and
other pains of the body. It is valuable not
only for colds in the winter, but for various
summer complaints, and should be in every
family.
A. D. Miller, Editor of Messenger. Glens
Falls, N. Y., says :
There is no medicine at the present day I
value so highly as Perry Davis’ Vegetable
Pain Killer. I have used it in njy family
for years; in every instance it has proved a
sovereign remedy. I tested its qualities
to-day on a severe burn, and found it all
that could be desired.
Mr. John Jackson, of the Calais Adrer -
User, writes :
I know it to be all it is recommended,
years.
The Salem Observer says;
No article of medicine ever attained to
such unbounded popularity and extensive
diffusion. It has penetrated to every parr,
even the most remote, of the known world,
bearing with it its healing influences more
potent than those of the .spices of “Araby
the blessed.” We are informed by our
principal druggists, that they sell more of
this article for exportation than of any or
all others, and that the demand is constant}-
increasing.
The Cincinnati Nonpareil, Nov. 14, 1840,
says :
Some of our most prominent citizens and
business men strongly recommend it to the
public as an article of great merit and virtue,
and that they never knew any medicine to
become so deservedly popular iu so short a
time
From Clergymen,"'
Rev. J. C. Boomer say.**:
I have used Perry Davis’ Pain Killer with
great success in cuses of cholera infantum,
common bowel complaint, brouchitae,
coughs, colds, etc., and would cheerfully
recommend it as a valuable family medicine.
Rev. J. G. Stearns, says:
I consider it the best remedy I ever knew
for dyspepsia.
Rev. Edward X. Fuller gays :
I have witnessed the beneficial effects of
your Puiu Killer in cases of dysentery and
cholera morbus, within a few months past,
and would cheerfully recommend its use to
such as may be fluttering from similar dis
eases, as a safe and effectual remedy.
liev. A. Webster, Editor of the Christian
Era, writes:
I have used your Pain Killer for many
years in rny family with much satisfaction.

UmVKKSITT OF GkoRRIA, )
Nov. 14th. 1866. j
*'l have examined with great care tne
Goodrich Series of School Readers, edited
by Noble Butler, A. M. I consider these
Readers adtnirahly adopted to secure the
end for which they have been prepared.
Tho selections are judicious, and the ar
rangement is excellent. Beading is here
presonfed as an art,; the consecutive meth
ods of instruction arc thoroughly exhibited,
while tho principles of correct and elegant
Reading, with the illustrations that em
body them, arc so happily introduced, that
easy and natural progress may be made. I
inn particularly pleased with tho NEW
SIXTH READER. This work ha.< pecu
liar merits. It combines, in an eminent de
gree. the best features of our most philo
losphic systems of Elocutionary Reading;
and, apart from its other recommendations,
is especially worthy of the attention of
Teachers on the ground of its eclectic value.
I shall introduce the New Sixth Reader into
the Elocutionary Department of this Uni
versity. A. A. LIPSCOMB,
Chancellor.”
“Butler’s Grammars impress mo very
favorably. So far as I have been able to
examine them, they strike me as very suc
cessful efforts to adapt the subject of Gram
mar to young minds. They teach the pupil
how to think iu tho study of Grammar; and
as most Grammars fail at this point, I can
very fully commend these books to the at
tention of Teachers.
A. A. LIPSCOMB,
Chancellor.”
We could append the endorsement of
these rare Books from al! the important
Teachers in the City of Augusta, who will
hereafter use them exclusively in their
schools.

SEWING MACHINE?.
WHEELER it WILSON’S
NEW IMPROVED
HIGHEST PREMIUM
Attn
FAMILY LOCK STITCH
SEWING MACHINE.
A HOUSEKEEPER WITH A SEWING
a"V MACHINE needs to hire no seam
stress ; she has an iron one that never
kills itself with tight lacing or dyspepsia,
nor gives up by noon siek with the head
ache. A young woman with a Sewing
Machine is independent. It will bring her
in more money than many a husband
would, and would never grumble when she
uses it, either ; and, besides, it will neither
smoke, drink, flirt with the girls, nor run
up a board bill for her to pay. Still, not
withstanding all this, no doubt sonfe silly
girls will prefer beaux and husbands to a
“Wheeler A Wilson but plenty who have
tried husbands, would like the chance to
choose again, and take the Machine, I
warrant you.
But the best of all is, when having got a
husband, lie, nice man that he is, goes and
buys the Sewing Machine, and, perhaps,
learns to run it himself ; and while she sits
and cuts aud bastes the cloth, he runs it
through the Machine with a rush, and, like
magicians who pull all sorts of things
out of all manner of strange places, so ho
tumbles in bits of cloth at one end and
pulls out at the other all manner of those
men’s clothes, women’s clothes, boys’
clothes, girl’s clothes, and baby clothes,
which are so handy to hare in the house,
where a happy couple live.
Now, my triend, hadn’t you better go and
get your wife a Sewing Machine ? It will
be better than to get anew wife when yours
bas sewed herself to death, won’t it?
“What wiil it cost ?”
Oh ! any where from fifty to ono hundred
dollars, aud thereabouts.
“Can’t afford it.’’
O, you can t! How long will it take
you to make up that amount of money in
cigars at present prices ? Sell a cow, if you
have several, and buy a Machine. Sell a
horse and buy a Machine. Use tho old
furniture and buy a Machine. Use the old
wagon and buy a Machine. Wear tho old
clothes and buy a Machine. A Machine is
better than a inclodcon. A Machine is
better than a piano. And, besides,-with a
Machine.'/tVst you can save and earn enough
to buy many other things.
“What one shall I get?”
“M e prefer the Wheeler and Wilson Sew
ing Machines for family use.”
There is no MACHINE in tho WORLD
that can do so GREAT A VARIETY OF
WORK as the IMPROVED WHEELER A
WILSON, or give such thorough satisfac
tion ; it cannot be equalled for Stitching,
Hemming, Quilting, Felling, Cording,
Tucking, Braiding, and will sew anything
from the THICKEST CLOTH to the
Finest Cambric, etc. The recent improve
ments render this Machine far more effi
cient, and is now universally acknowl
edged to he the leading FAMILY SEWING
MACHINE of the WORLD.
