For time to come then, the present United Stales must lie "one an > insepa rsble," with the prospect of adding, at, comparatively, no remote period, to its temtorr. . Anu we are just as indissolubly one people as one country. We all have the same rights, come under the same ieeal obligations, and are entitled to t e same privileges and protection, jjcfore the law all are equal, and there are no Southern men, as eoatra-distin wished from Northern, or Eastern, I'rua Western men. All may claim, *;ih honest pride, as he contemplates the grandeur of the power of this great nation, ‘I am an American citizen.” Being therefore ot one country— rating one people—and as such known throughout the wond. with a govern rent powerful enough to command respect tor its subjects wherever they i may go, it occurs to us it is tin- j supremest, it not a most social folly, for i the South to cher sh prejudices, anu try to establish differences between the people of the two sections. The p ople ot the North have tile right to come hire, and they will come. We could not prevent it if we would. In fact the South should extend an invitation to them to com \ ,n i receive with a cordial ' welcome ait woo cone to settle wilii I good in' * .lions ; tor we need their 1 capital, ttieir improvements, and their 1 still in agriculture and the industrial I arts- Our chief co n-eru should be that they «... i.ciovr and moral, and will mike goo citiseus. There are such—large numbers of them—who desire to come South and settle, and would do so but for an indefinable dread that, if not injured in property, they and tiieir families would be subjected to slights in society. We regret to know that however unwise and unjust it may U to slight, on account of sectional birth or political bias, those who come recommended by official or social re lations as ladies and gentlemen, and whose deportment stamps them as such, there is on the part of some a disposition tO do 60. And in this great work of good will sod reconstruction, the women of the couth have an important duty to per form. They may facilitate, or they may retard, or, perhaps, actually prevent, by their social example and influence, eon dilation and reunion. They have, and mist deservedly, a potent influence. Let them exert it healingly. They nobly lid their duty during the war—they tailed and made sacrifices deserving ail praise and a better fate. But it was all for naught. They certainly are equal to one other sacrifice; they certainly are capable of rising superior to sur rounding circumstances, and. for the fomi of the South, perhaps to avert deeper humiliation, ot exteridiug the courtesies ol society to the families of those front the North who come among “s. This is not now i question of honor -honor'was satisfied by the sacrifues ■side by them during the war, an i by the deed- of our soldiers on hundreds of e ry fields front tne Potomac to the H o Grande. For these they have the respect of the brave ot tbe I ederai a . r ®y—officers and privates. Bet our women, then, strong in the influence derived from their glorious exertions Bring the contest, bury their grief, a> and bhiive, if they cannot forget, what they their wron s, and contribute with lu| nan s trust, and will, and power, to great work of Reconstruction. In place of a course, rustic, flushed face, she Lad a soft ruby complexion of a'most marble smooth ness, and instead >f twenty throe she really appeared but eighteen. Upon inquiry as to the cau.se of so great a change, she plainly told them that she used the CIRCASSIAN BALM, and considered it an invaluable acquisition to any Lady’s toilet. By its use any lady or gentleman can improve their personal appearance an hundred fold. It is simple iu its combination, as Nature herself is simple, yet unsurpassed in its efficacy in drawing impurities from, also healing, cleansing, and beautifying the skin and complexion.
