Sugail—Owing to boisterous, rainy . weather,
which h'as prevailed since the UtU inst, the supplies
of Sugar has been checked, nnd grinding lias been
impeded, which circumstances, aided by a more
general demand, hnafre produced great firmness in
prices and a further advance. Wo quote whites 9 a
10, riiils; yellows, 6 a 7) rials; Browns, 5.j a Cf rods;
Cpcuruehos, 5 a 5} rials. Sules of Muscovndoqs have
been made in this market at 5 rinls for ordinary, and
51 rials for middling quality. Purchases are. being
made to a considerable extent, in Matanzas mnl pur-
dennk, for France, which market is expected to ab
sorb a larger amount of Sugars of this description
thnn usual, this yegr. The unfavorable wentber huv-
fhg operated against the giinding, it is feared that the
crop will be lees than wns anticipated.
Molasses has been sold at 2 rials in the harbor,
with Eome additional charges’ borne by purchasers,
making it equal to 2| rials usual conditions. In the
outuorts the urticle is supported at two rials. Musco-

Rich.—The 3,0(10 casks Rice named as on hand in
our last report were sold lit 10 rials; two more car
goes arrived of which erne is placed at 11 rials, leav
ing 300 casks for disposal.
• Lumbeb.—Only 50,000 feet more W. I’, came in and if
imports continue moderate for some time, the
article will begin to recover itself. About 230,0(K)
feet were sold ut 822 for Frankfort, $21, for Hath,
$29 for Muchius; there arc about 250,000 foot left.
Abont 320,000 feet P. P. changed hands at $22J fur
I’ensacolu well assorted, $17 for Wilmington river,
$22 for Timber anil $181 for steam-sawed Mobile.
There are two cargoes from Mobile on hand. About
30,000 more Box Hhooks were brought in, nnd the
Hands not Hearts, a novel by Janet W. Wilkinson,
