~PacM Skip Askore.—The packet ship Argo, (’not Crawford, is ashore on Long (Hand, v!r Mastic ; but the passengers and crew are She has a large and valuable cargo of trench goods. The Argo belongs to Wm. Whitlock’s line of Havre packets, and was I |, j„ 1841, and valued at $00,000. The ne- ■essiiry assistance was sent down to her yester- , (^ t we ]iave not heard whether or not there is any hope of saving her—the sea, at the last accounts, was muking a clear breach tl .' e J tl -A^r. Mirror of Saturday Fret Soil Institutions.—The late strike op en the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad extension appears to have been in conformity with an ex tensive movement on otherpublic works. The Cumberland Civilian says: 1'he men on the entire lino of the Central railroad in Pennsylvanian shopped work on the 1st of March, witn adonmnd for higher wages. We have not heard from the Central road in Virginia, but we should not be surprised if there was concert of action among tho laborers on the public works throughout the United States in reference to this subject. When the work will be re-commenced it is hard to say. PASSENGERS. Per steamer Win Seabrook.from Charleston—Mrs i V Pelot.
