March 20.—Cotton.—The Up per market, yesterday, remained quiet, but prices without any material change, or if any, perhaps n shade easier than oil the day previous. The sales footed 413 bales, at from 10* to 121. CHARLESTON, March 20.—The transactions in Cotton yesterday reached near 1000 bales, at prices dccidedlv in favor of purchasers. The sales are as follows : 94 bales at 10*; 9 nt 10|; 42 at 101; 352 at 11; 145 fit lli; 96 at 11*; 60 nt 11 J; 12 at 11*; 47 at llj; iuui kl bales nt ll}c. AUGUSTA, Mnrch 21.—On Tuesday, sales of about 600 bales were made, at an advance of * to *c. Yes terday holders still asked the advance of the day be fore, and the telegraphic accounts of the New-York, Charleston and Savannah markets not being consid ered good, there was not much sold, and purchases were made at little easier prices. The receipts con tinue very light . Fbeiohts.—Our river has fallen about 10 feet, and is still going down. The rise reached in all about 2-3 feet, and was within 7 feet of the freshet of 1840. Very little Cotton shipped to Bavahnali or Charleston. NEW-ORLEANS, March 19.—(By Telegraph.)— Middling Cotton is selling nt 10* cents. Freights and Exchange remain unaltered. MOBILE, March 20.—(By Telegraph.p—We quote Middling Cotton at 10| cents—market easier. Ex change on London, sterling, 7*; on NeW-York, 2 per et discount. Freights to Liverpool, a farthing per lb. for Cotton. Money Matters, Trade, See. The exports of specie from New York, from Janu ary 1st to the present time, has amounted to $498,- 255. The exports of merchandise during January and Februry, reached $5,847,742, against $4,80^724 utine time last year—being an increase of 25 per cent., which has had the tendency to increase the supply of Bills of Exchange, the rates of which are dull and tending in favor of the United States. We quote : Bills on London, 108 a 108*, and Francs 5,29 a 5,32*. There, however, is little or no movement as yet for the steamer “Canada,” which sailed on Wednesday. The Philadelphia Bulletin, of Saturday evening, says : "Money continues abundant, and the Banks are dis counting all the good paper that is ottered. The out of door rates for first class paper are 6 a 7 per cent., and second class 7* to 10. The amount of spe cie in the vaults of the Banks at present is much larger than usual.” NEW YORK, Marbh 16.—'“The stock of Whale Oil in the country Is reduced to 500 bbls. The sales nt the Eastward lately have been 3,500 bbls, at 43 cts. for consumption. Llnceed Is firmer, the stock on hand being very light Sales of 7,000 grllons English, for the West at 93, and 3,000 gallons English and Ameri can, in lots"of 91 a 93 cts. “Bales of 2,500 bbls.
