New York Dry Goon Sales.—Four large pub
lic snles attracted the attention and invited the atten
dance of tile trade on Tuesday. Though the number
of public sales have increased within the Inst fort
night, yet the total amount of goods offering is not
near so large ns in the spring ot last year.
The carpet stock of the Thompsonvllle Manufac
turing Company was ottered for sale by Messrs. Aus
tins & Spicer, and occasioned a very spirited compe
tition among the bidders. The sale desalted in higher
prices for the best qualities of their goods. The at
tendance was very large, and the goods were all sold.
The package sale of assorted dry goodB, by Messrs.
Haggerty, Draper,* Jones, brought together a large
company nnd realized fair prices. The attention of
the sale was in the offering of fancy spring prints,
which sold satisfactorily at an average ol’5|j cents per
yurd.
