They lett on the 15th of March. There Was no snow on the Plains, and the weatlter had been remark ably mild. On the 11th of ’November last while Mr. Dauphin with-ten traders, were returning from a trading expedition, they were attacked In camp at the l 1 ork of White rfver, by a war par ty of Pawnee Indians* - t Mr. Dauphin was bad ly wo tin dad, and'in this condition he was de serted by hit men. The Indians overpowed him, took hit goods, and then left him. He finally succeeded, hoVever, in- reaching Fort Look Out. Buffaloes are plenty on the Plaint. The Si oux Indians had collected a band of fifty or one hundred men, for tho purpose of hunting them. In January while the Sioux were hunting on the Forks of the Cheyenne, they Were attacked by a party of Crow Indians, and eight warri ors were killed on’ each side. The Crows stole from the enemy one hundred and fifty horses. The Sioux were preparing to retaliate. The Yanctons were also preparing for war with the same parties, in consequence of dep redations committed by the latter. This war will probnbly continue all season. There is reason to fear that parties of Cali fornia emigrants going by the I^orth side of the Platte River, may foil in with war parlies of this Indians and be attacked. ,s Major Hatton, agent for the Sioux, is expect ed here about the lust.Af thjs-ijionth. This estimate is not made at randum, but from date that -would probably satisfy most men*ond remove every reasonable doubt. Within the last twelve months our sugar lands have increased in price more- than during the previous ten years. This advance is probably from 25 to 40 per cent., and the operation of the same cause must continue to produce a similar advance from year to year, until our fine sugar lauds shall command all equal price with lands of equal quality in Lou isiana.
