The amount ruised lustyear was $5,740 81. The total amount raised since the formation of the association is $66,263 66. The report presented much en couragement for future efforts. Speeches wero made in the course of the evening by several eminent divines. The Rev Dr Tyng in the course of his remarks related the following : A poor man was standing behind a counte>- m Providence, and another young man was wrapping some article in n piece of paper which turned out to be a leaf of the Bible “Do you know what that is you arousing in that way J" “No” “That is a leaf of the alible " “Wliat harm ?” “It contains the word? of ev crlasting life—don’t use it so.” Such was the brief dialogue between them. The young man with the Bible leuf laid it aside, using another piece of paper in its stead ; and when he was going home he put it in his pocket, and, on n forward looking at it, he read tho words in the 12 chapter of paiiiel :—“Go thy way, and stand in thy lot in the lust days. - ’ He said to himself: “What will be my lot in the last days ?"
