A friend has computed the number of emigrants who have made this starting point during the nst 18 months, at 2,300 persons. The exag gerated and prejudicial reports that obtained •urrency in relation to other places, about a lear since, have completely disproved them- iclves, while this route is becoming by general :onsent the most favorable one that points t> e ray of the overland traveller to this wished for ■BI Dorado. The shock which this distressing accident gave her nervous system as so great as to prostrate it, and ull efforts o produce a reaction proved fruitless. Alter lingering in considerable pain until Thursday norning at one o’clock, she expired. Electro Biology Triumphant.—On Monday lorning lajt, whilst u g-eat many persons were Wi lling on the Levee in Laliiyeite, to witness is depnriureof the steamship Ohio, a man in is crowd fell down with an epileptic fit, and ipeared to be in the agonies of death. Sev- ul medical gentlemen were there; hut, as they oncluded he was a gonecuse, they did not at mpt to render any assistance. It happened mt a physician from the city was present, who ud been a disciple of the renowned Theopliil- Fiske, the Electro-Biologist. It was his pinion, from his previous experience in such sirs, that the man would not live a minute, ^^eing a bit of a wag, and wisely concluding g£)at a slight experiment could do no harm, h»re death was so near, the Doctor, determ- led to operate on the subject electrically, hen, to the astonishment, of the numerous prsnns present, and, in a few seconds of time e rose up and walked away—perfectly res- ircd. This fact is attested by at least fifty ergons, who where, eyr-witnesses; and we live the testimony of many of them, to lho T-ct that it was as perfect a case of epilepsr i could exist The physician who performed ircure was Dr. Frederick W. Hart, of An- inciation street.— The Daily Delta, 18th.
