MORNING NEWS. Life Insurance and Savings Bank United. —An important and valuable system of life in surance inis been brought into practical opera tions by “ The United Slates Life Insurance Company," in this city. We allude to insur ances payable to the persons tuking out policies, suould they live to attain stated ages; or dy ing before those ages the amounts insured revert to their heirs or representatives. Thus n person 24 years of age, paying $54.- 50 annually secures $1,000 for his family if he should die immediately ufter effecting the in surance ; hut if he lives tu the ago of 40 years lie receives that amount himself, with his share "I profits of all the business transacted by the Company during t.he whole period in whicit be has been insuring. At. 31 years of age, pitying $40,20 annually, secures equal benefits id the same amount, on or before attaining the ngeot 50.^ Beginning at the age of 40, u pay ment of 45,70 per annum, secures the same on nr before attaining the age of 00 ; and a youth 18years of age, may obtain the sumo advanta ges, at or before the ago of 60 by the payment el $18,20 per annum. Wehuve cited these cases to show tiie prac tical operations of this new system ol life in- turance. The principle is a beautiful combi- nntimi of the Savings Batik and the Life Insur- ire Company, affording immediate protection i the femi ly or dependants in the amount iu- ttni'd, and securing to the insurer, if he lives, 1 full advantages of an investment of mon ey at interest. It secures from small suvings, the mentis ot establishing a business, or of pro- ' Uritig a homestead, at periods of life when the accomplishment of either of these objects fre- quentlv becomes an absorbing topic ot domes- ' c solicitude.—Jour. of Com. Bananas.—Wo never doubted that the cli- nnte of Lousiuna was suited to the production "l tropical fruits; but the most confirmed scop- " c "'>uld be convinced could ho have seen the mimmnth bunch of bananas thnt we received i trw days since, through the house of Roman '■ Kernoin, ot thi3 city*. The banunas were ip-wt, in the parish of St. James, in the open nir.aiul for delicious flavor, in which they re- ‘«inble n combination of the melon und pear,: isuperior to any we have ever tasted. The bunch presented to us was so weighty ns to re- '|«ire two negro men to bring it to our office; it contained about 175 of the fruit, in various of ripeness, and the stalk measured ten incites in circumference, and four feet seven and •“ naif in length. The fruit is about the usual sl *e of those imported, and belongs to the vari ety known as the “Chinese Dwarf.” If such Kttccess attends the banana culture in this State, '■« do nut soe why it should not be prosecuted greater extent. Judging from the speci- ’tit'll before us, we should say no climate can be »Htnr suited to it titan ours. We are every dtv bee. •tiling more fully persnadedthnt Louis- slana ’•* decidedly a place—N.
