A letter from Nantes of the 15th inst. an nounces the loss of the' mail-boat, between Belle Isle and Quiberon, with 14 passengers and crew. The particulars of the disaster at Angers, I ranee, are given—SCO dead bodies had been already lound, among which were those of die chief of batalion and four other officers. I he President of the Republic, accompanied h y the Minister of War, had left Paris for Angers, to attend the funeral of the victims. A letter from Angers thus describes the acci dent : “A frightful event has just occurred here, "e write under the strongest feelings of dis- lrpf s. At 11 o'clock this morning a squadron "I Hussars, coming from Nantes, had e.ross- oi over the suspension bridge of the Basse Maine, without any accident, although the "jnd blew very heavily from tho west and the river was much agitated. The last of the horses had scarcely crossed die bridge, when the head of the column of die 3th battalion of the 11th Light Infantry ap- I'eared on the side. Reiterated warnings were given to the troops bi break into sections, as is usually done, but me rain falling heavily at the time, the warn* was disregarded, and the battalion advan c'd in close column. the head of the battalion had reasched the ■'pposite side—the pioneers, the drummers and °f the band were off the bridge, when , IL ‘ rrght band suddenly gave away, crushing then the rear of the 4th company, ' ’ , w 'th the flank company, had not entered •<"> the bridge. . 1 * le bridge was built 12 years ago, and a year 36 03o7* erWent le P a ' ,s " hich cost tho town Th ususnencling chains at first gave wny on I e stde onjy.when the soldiers on the bridge m in n le ^ novemeQt the fioorof the bridge, . It is said, that amongst the Agriculturists of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, and Here fnrdsliire, there is a grand scheme of emigra tion afloat, which projects the purchase of a million acres of land in one of tho Western States of America. The Papal States.—A letter from Rome, in the Constitutionalist, says: ‘•The cardinals have arrived in great num bers for some days, and are received with nn alacrity of which you cannot form an idea. Morsignor Lambruschini. in partic9lar, has been tho object of the greatest attention. Tlie day on which tho Pope set foot on tlie soil his states, a few representatives of Young Italy who are here, could not help protesting against this violation of the rights of tho people, and calling on^that same ppople to again raise their standard at tho moment when foreighers (read ‘France,’) displayed, the bunner of saccaotnl tyranny. This plucnrd was posted up in a hundred places in tho city, the police content ing themselves with tearing it down. The amnesty of which I spoke to you will be sign ed at Velletri, but it lias no political charactr. Another decree will do awuy, it is said, with the municipal commission, to replace it by it more regular administration. Tho decree will meet \vith general approbation. H AVING received a small supply of TEA NUTS, collected at great expense of money und labor, in the middle districts of Chinn, from the most cele brated Tea Plantations of the Empire, I am prepared to fulfil my engagemeuts by accommodating tlie pub lic with a share of the Nuts received. My main ob ject is to plant and cultivate.; but. as I »m quite cer tain that 1 have obtained, after the lubor of three years, tlie best quality of Tea Nuts, I ant disposed to meet the wishes of tlie public, aud to share them with others.—Ten Nuts gathered in the neighborhood of Canton nre’ecnrcely worth cultivating, on account of tlie inferior quality of tho Tea. It is obviously the interest of the planter to submit to an increased ex pense, to secure a superior quality of Ten Nut, in es tablishing a Tea Plantation, whether large or small. In prosecuting this arduous undertaking, I am in fact acting as un agent for the benefit of the public. Neither the State, the public, or any individual, lias ever extended to me the aid of a single cent. For convenience nnd security, the Nuts will he pneked in tin boxes, and forwarded from Greenville, S. C., by such conveyance and to such address ns tho purchaser may direct, to any part of the U. States. TEA PLANTS—now on their passage from Chino, selected with a single eye to quality, by a gentleman of largo exp*-ience in horticultural pursuits, and p r- linps better acquainted with the character of the Ten Plant, than any person in Europe or America—will also be shared with those desirous of obtaining a small Bupply.
