SUGARS Since our Report the prices of Sugar have been Hmily maintained, although the news from Europe were not of an encouraging nature.—The sup plies of the qrticle from the interior have been some what restricted, und Planters have derived assistance in their pretensions from the abundance of vessels in the harbor nnd a decline in freights; from a large nu m- her of charters which were made, lending to consid erable purchases, and from the activity of the ship ments to Spain, owing to the quarantine regulations in that Peniusula. The latest intelligence from Eu rope to the 5th April, beitig still unfavorable, may have some influence on the further course of prices. As yet however it has made no impression, and we plnce our quotations ns follows:—Fine Whites 10 n 10| rials; good and fair Whites, 9 a 9| rials; ordinary Whites, 81 a 8| rs; Yellows, C a 7| rs; Browns, 5| n 5} rids; Cucuruchos, 4| a 5 rials. We may add that Whites are scarce ar d in active inquiry. Muscovdos are at 4| a 5 rials for ordinary to mid dling, and the better sorts si U at 5 a 5| rials. The weather has been rather showery of late; still, Planters have been enabled to continue the operations of grinding. We are now however approaching the period of continuous rains. MOLASSES is at If a 1| rial in the outports, and at 1} rial in the harbor. The value of Coffee is nominal, and the quont'tyleft perfectly insignificant. LARD.—The value of Lard is maintain d; the stock is equal to about 9000 kegs. RICE.—A cargo ol llice was s.oldat 11) rials, which advance was owing to larger purchases than u! util for the troops ; but the general consumption has been checked, in conse quence of the dealers having putup the price too high. AUother cargo (a small one) came in and was sold at 11) rs and there is one of 300 on hand. VVe may remurk tlmt the augmented use qt the article among-the troops will only continue during the existence of the epidem ic. About 900 hags Valencia also arrived and were fold at 9| and 9 rials. The dealers have a large quan tity in store of their lnte purchases. LUMBER.—A cargo of Portland Lumber was plac ed at $24. Some P P River Lumber from Wilming ton realized 818.) and Timber 823. A carg j from Mo bile remaned unsold. SHOOKS.—Box Shooks are still dull and sales have been madent lower rates, say 6 and 6) rials on long credit for good qualty, and of inferior at 5 rials. There are upwards of 150.000 in store, a great part ol which, it is to be feared, must remnin over. Hhd. Shooks find buyers in moderate quantities. A parcel of good quality Molasses was sold at 14 rials, and oi country made lit 13 rials. Muscovado Shooks are in restricted demand. FLOUR.—Two or three cargoes of Spanish Flour changed hands at 810 u 810| per200 lbs. FREIGHTS.—Shipping adapted for Sugar Freight is abundant. A large number of vessels were chart ered, mogtly 0t £2 2;(i for Cowes and near ports, with the usual additions, and some at £2.4[ nnd £2.5[. A '•esse! of 2400 boxes was take n up at £25 for St Pe tersburg direct, having particular! 1 reasons for preferr- ln K that destination. At present low rates would be accepted for Cowes, anil we quote £2 a 2.2[fi for Cowes and Murket; extra sized vessels would prob ably; accept Btillless. We quote Coastwise Freight si lor Sugar; $2) for Molasses. Vessels suited for Molasaestrade ore scarce niid wanted. EXCHANGE on London 10) pg premium; New- rorkand Boston par to* p £ "premium. "J.
