MORNING NEWS.
Changes.
Tho following is the prologue written by
Tims. Dunn E iglisli for Rees’s successful com
edy of “Charges,” nnd first spoken by Mis*
Wood at the Chestnut street Theatre:
In times like these all tragic airs are o’er,
And the soiled buskin treads the stage no more ;
The very characters that Shnkspearo made
Have left the stage nnd sought ft better trade—
Macbeth, once a king, n humbler station fills,
Runs with the engine, and for Keyser kills.
Sleeks down his hair, a gaudy waistcoat buys,
And goes unto the company’s ball with Lize ;
pthcllo, quitting j, alou~y ns “low,”
Plays darkey tunes upon the old banjo,
Leaves Desdemonn dying on Iter lied,
To sing “ O dearest Mae,” nnd “Uncle Ned ; ”
(iritn Shylock, tired of Portia nnd such jokers,
Becomes a member of the board of brokers,
Where he front Christian hearts may cut nwny.
It’ to disposed, his pound of tiesli per day ;
Katherine, the tamed, her downfall made complete,
With tub on head, sells herrings in the ttreet,
And quite forgetting tho true part of wife,
Lends poor Pi iruchio such n wretched life ;
Tae three wierd sisters, put upon their wits,
Turn conjurors nnd rival Signor Blitz ;
While Sit- John Kalstatf keeps u tavern here,
And leaves his “sherris sack ’ for Lager Beer.
Lives there a man, in thi - degenerate day.
Who dares to oiler us a five act'piny I
A nifty devoid of crimson fire nnd smoke,
Cl p-trnp, a Jnkey nnd a vulgar joke i
A p|i>v wherein no trap door ch mi ns rise,
Nor broad word combat ns ks the loud ‘-he dies,”
Yes! on, poor wret h—f 1 ft him even now—
The e in the green-room wilh a troubled brow,
Tiemb’.ing ,n3t frightene 1 from hie narrow wits,
Waiting ms doom, the during writer sits ;
While p ?rt Timlin, making comic faces,
('nou ti e wall hi* rueful visage traces.
That on to-morrow, funny friends of his
May say. while gazi tg on his pictured phiz—
“ What a good nki ne s ! that’s the bard 1 ndzooks I
Hi pi ,y w.i* goosed In t n ght I how sad he looks I”
But Hold 1 I go too fur, peril ip-, to say
Tout, ere y m see, you niu-t ecuJemn the piny.
The ncters wait their action to begin,
All dresual nnd ready—=o I’ll cnll them in;
Bid them the plot and incident rehearse,
While you shall judge the moral und the verse.
The author bade me on this point as-ure ye,
Than those around he asks no better jury ;
And, though indicted for the fearful crime
Of writing wretched plays at such a time,
He hopes your verdict will be in the cause,
“Not guilty,"—ratified with loudnppluusc.

TEA CU LTIVATION IN THE U. STATES.
H AVING received u small supply of TEA NUTri,
collected at great expense of money and labor,
in tin* middle districts of China, from the most cele
brated Ten Plantations of the Empire, I am prepared
to fultii my engagements by accommodating the pub
lic with a share of the Nuts received. My main ob
ject ii to plant and cultivate; but as I am quite cer
tain that 1 have obtained, after the labor oi three
years, the best quality of Tea Nuts, I am disposed to
meet the wishes of the public, and to eh ure them
with others.—Ten Nuts gathered in the neighborhood
of Canton are scarcely worth cultivating, on account
of the inferior quality of the Ten. It is obviously the
interest of the planter to submit to an increased ex
pense, to secure a superior quality of Tea Nut, in es
tablishing a Tea Plantation, whether large or small.
In prosecuting this arduous undertaking, I am in
fact acting ns an agent for the benefit of the public.
Neither the State, the public, or, any individual, bus
ever extended to me the aid of a single cent.
