Hemans. I the soft, green light in the woody glade, _ j the banks ofmoss where thy childhood played By the household tree through which thine eye Kirstiooked in love to the summer sky ; By the dewy gleam, by the very breath Of the primrose tufts in the grass beneath, Upon ilty heart there is laid a spell lioly and precious—oh! guard it'well! I!y the sleepy ripple of the stream. Which has lulled thee into many a dream ; By the shiver of the ivy leaves To the wind of morn, nt thy casement eaves; By the bees’ deep murmur inthelinnte; By the music of the Sabbutli chimes ; liy every sound of thy native shade, Stronger and dearer the spell is made. f By the gathering round the winter hearth, , When twilight called unto household mirth; By the fairy tale, or the legend old, In that ring of happy faces told; By the quiet hour, when hearts unite lit the parting prayer and the kind good-night; By the smiling eye and the loving tone, Over thy life lias the spell been thrown. And bless that gift l itliath gentle might, A guardian power and a guiding light; | It hath led the freeman forth to stand I In the mountain battle of his land; , It hath brought the wanderer o’er the seas, To die on the hills of his own fresh breeze; Anil back to the gates of his father’s hall, It hath led the weeping prodigal. Acs! when the heart in its pride would stray 1 from the pure first-loves ot its youth away, I When the sullying breath of tho world would come O’er the flowers it brought from its childhood's home— Think then agnin of the woody glade, Aud the sound by the rustling ivy made; Think of the tree at thy father’s door, And the kindly spell shall have power once more, vised edition : The Onyx King: by the lute John Sterling—with a sketch of liis life : Heroines of the Missionary Enterprise or sketches of prominent Female Missionaries : by Daniel C. H AVING received a small supply of TEA NUTS, collected at great expense of money and labor, in the middle districts of China, from the most cele brated Tea Plantations of the Empire, I am prepared to fulfil my engagements by accommodating the pub lic with u share of the Nuts received. My main ob ject is to j)lant and cultivate; but as I am quite cer tain that I have obtained, after the labor of three years, the best quality of 'Pea Nuts, I am disposed to meet the wishes of the public, and to share them with others.—Tea Nuts gathered in the neighborhood of Canton are scoreely worth cultivating, on account of the inferior quality of the Ten. It is obviously the interest of the planter to submit to an increased ex pense, to secure a superior quality of Tea Nut, in es tablishing a Tea Plantation, whether large or small. H» prosecuting this arduous undertaking, 1 ain in fact acting as an agent for the benefit qf ute public. Neither the State, the public, or any individual, has ever extended to me tne aid of a single cent. For convenience and security, tne Nuts will be lacked in tin boxes, ah cl forwarded from Greenville, I. C., by such conveyance and to such address as the purchaser may direct, to any part of the U. States. TEA PLANTS—now on their passage from Chiila, selected with a single eye to quality, by a gentleman of force experience in horticultural pursuits, and p r- haps bettor acquainted with the character oi the l ei Plant, than any person in Europe or America-—will also be shared with those desirous oi obtaining a A specification of the soil bestadapted to the growth of the plant, the mode of planting, cultivating, Sic, Sic., will accompany each parcel.
