On Saturday evening, the case of the Farmer’s So Mechanic’s Bank came up before Court on the part of Dr. J. Fowkesand others, that die assets of the Bank should be placed under their control. The motion was resisted by Gen. Coe. as attorney for a portion of the creditors. The Gen eral read a c immunication previously, signed by King Trigg, to the effect that such resistance on his part would be treated by them us a private nnd per sonal matter. The argument was deferred to some other duy. Messrs. Coe nnd Connel left the court room, and were met by Trigg and his friends, when u personul assault occurred. Pistols were fired, and in the melee Goc shot und killed Trigg. A general fight followed, when Coe was attacked by three different parties, and shut in the back, lie fell mortally wounded. Others became engaged in the affray, nnd a man nuined Gaines, closed in a contest with Connell, both fulling to the ground, evidently seriously injured. The great est excitement prevailed.
