L ANDHETH’S GARDEN HEKD-.--TO
PURCHASERS OF GARDEN .SEEDS. It is
self evident, that unless tile seeds which we may
sow, are good in uil respects, it will be folly to ex
pect l'avoruble results—either we shall be disappoint
ed by their not vegetating, or wlint is still more
vexatious, find, after careful culture, that the variety
is worthless:—How many from their own experi
ence can estimate the annoyance of such an event!
Conscious of the room for improvement, and assured
that the seeds-man who should justly be entitled to
OOhfidence, would receive ample support, the foun
ders ol the establishment, - now conflicted by tile
subscriber, started more than half u century ago,
with the determination to sell nothing but what was
worthy of credit; and that they might the more cer
tainly accomplish their object, resolved to produce,
as far 11s possible, the seeds which they should vend;
experience having shown them that most imported
seeds could not be relied on, much less those, casual
ly collected, and sold to dealers.— 1 The result wus us
they hud foreseen :—unlimited public confidence.
The concern thus conducted, bus hern gradually en
larged, and is now the most extensive of its kind in

A safeand certain cure for Consumption of the Lungs,

wort und Tar not only gives immediate relief
in Coughs and Colds, but, from tiie testimony of men
of tiie highest standing here and elsewhere, it is mnk-
ing some very remarkable cures in Consumption.”
The Railway Register adds: “ Wo have heard it sta

medicines of the nge, for Coughs, Colds, influenza,
Bronchitis, Asthma, Pain in the Side nnd Brpnst, Spit

plaints; which, if neglected, usually terminate in Con
sumption: and the certificates attached to the adver

Liverwort.
This plant has for many years hern found to be of
singular virtue in the cure of affections of the Liver.
More recently it was ascertained thnt it possessed
great power in arresting bleeding nt the lungs, coughs
ol' a chronic character, etc., and of essentiul service in
all diseases of a pulmonary character.
Tar.
This article, is now universally acknowledged to he
tiie most healing und efficient application for disensod
or decaying lungs,or any portion of the fleshy or inns
cular parts of tiie human body, its medicinal nnd
preservative qualities were understood by tiie Egyp
tians in tiie early ages ot' the world, and no doubt now
exists among scientific men, that the preparation used
in theembalmmciit ol' bodies, wus composed princi
pally of this ingredient. In later ages it was found to
lie in universal use among the aborigines of America,
and nt this day it is their principal, and, in fuct, only
medicine for an unsound state of the lungs, or any
approach to it. Those who are acquainted with the
history of this hardy race of men, know that a death
from Consumption is unknown among them! Tiie
medical faculty in all countries appear to have be
come aware of the great healing properties of this
article, nnd are now introducing it in their practice.
Dr. Buchan, of England; Dr. Crichton, of St. Peters
