MEDICINES.
THE GREATEST DISCOVERY OF THE
AGE.
TYR. TOBIAS’S VENETIAN LINIMENT is war-
1 ' ranted to be superior to any other medicine yet
known for the cu re of
Wans, Burns, Coughs, Lumbago, Headache, Djsen-
Tory, Chilblains, Sea Sichncss, Chapped Hands,
Old Sores, Croup, Swellings, IVarts, Hemorrhage,
Cramp, Chronic IUicumatism, Weakness in the
Limbs, Cholera, Vomiting, Cuts, Bruises, Cold
Feet, Corns, Tooth-Ache, Sore Throats, Palpitation
of the Heart, <)t\
This Liniment was the discovery of the lute Dr. So-
lornon, of Gilead House, Liverpool, a graduate of the
College of Surgeons in Dublin, aud was used with
great success throughout England during a period of
15 years, 6inee which it lias become the property of
the present proprietor, the grandson of the lute doc
tor; and duringthe time itlias been introduced into
this country over 1000 certificates have been received,
speaking in the highest terms of its pain releiving
qualities ; and to prove what it is represented to be,
every agent is ordered to refund the money should it
iail to give rebel when used uceording to the ilructioiis.
A few certificates are given.
Certjicate oi Mrs. L. I. Cohen.
Having used in my family, with the most complete
suebess, Dr. Tobias’s Venetian Liniment for croup,
oougli, headache pain in the limbs, sore throat, &c„ 1
feel it lio more than an act of justice to the Doctor to
give this certificate ; and the speedy cures it has affec
ted, have been most astonishing, i am never without
a bottle ei it in my house, and am sure no one will re
gret trying it.

Dr. robins Sir : One ol my children was severely
attacked with croup. 1 used your Venetian Lini-
inent which gave immediate relief, and I really think
it was the means of saving my child’s life. Under
no consideration would I he without a bottle in my
house. I also consider it a most certain remedy for
scalds and bruises, buying thoroughly tested it for the
same.

LACK WOOD’S MAGAZINE AND THE
BRITISII QUARTERLY REVIEWS.—Owinp
to the late revolutions and counter-revolutions amonc
the nations of Europe, which have followed each
other in such quick succession, and of which “the
end is nut yet” the leading periodicals of Great Brit
an have become invested with a degree of interest
hitherto unknown. They occupy a middle ground
between the hasty, disjointed, and necessarily imper
fect records of the newspapers, and the elaborate
und ponderous treatises to be furnished by the liisto*
rian at a future day. The American Publishers, there*
tore, deem it proper to cull renewed attention to
these Periodicals, and the very low prices at which
they are ofl'ered to subscribers. The following is
their list, viz:
THE LONDON QUARTERLY REVIEW,
THE EDINBURGH REVIEW,
THE NORTH BRITISH REVIEW,
THE WESTMINSTER REVIEW\
BLACKWOOD'S EDINBURGH MAGAZINE-
in these periodicals are contained the views mod
erately, though clearly and lirmly expressed o*
the three grout parties in England—Tory, Whig
and Radical—“ Blackwood” and the “ London
Quarterly,” are Tory; the “ Edinburgh Review.
Whig : and the “ Westminster Review,” Liberal.
'Pbe “ North British Review” owes its establishincn •
to the htst.great ecclesiastical movement in Scotland!
and is not ultra iu its views on any one of the £nm<’
department of human knowledge ; it was origins*)
edited by Dr. Chalmers, and now, since hisdiwh*
is conducted by his son-in-law, Dr. Ilnnna, associate^
with Sir David Bi owgter. Its literary character is oi
the very highest order. The “ Westminster,”though
reprinted under that title only, is published in Eng'
land under the title of the “Foreign Quarterly »m
Westminster,” it being in fact a union ot the two-
Reviews formerly published and reprinted un n <?r . E ?‘'
parate title. It was, therefore, the ndvantuge by tm»
combination, of uniting in one w ork the best^feutui
ot both as heretofore issued. _ , ^
The above Periodicals are reprinted in I*ew *° •
immediately on their arrival by the British 8team e *
in a beautif ul clear type, on fine White’ paper, n 11 ” * f
faithful copies of the orieinals. Blackwoods^
