’rUIIS preparation is a Concentrated Extract, con-

Jonyza, (commonly known us Black Root,) and the
Styliingia, or Queen’s Delight.
These plants have been long used among our South

with the haopiest results, in cases of Chronic Rheu
matism, Ulcers of long standing, and Secondary
Syphilis. It is much superior to any preparation of
Sarsaparilla as an alterative, being more active and
prompt in its operation on the system. These facte
have induced the subscribers to present to the atten

in Coughs and Colds, but, from the testimony of men
of the highest standing here and elsewhere, it is mak
ing some very remarkable cures in Consumption.”
The Railway Register adds: “ YVe have heard it sta

medicines of the age, for Coughs, Colds, Influenza,
Bronchitis, Asthma, Pain in the Side and Breast, Spit

Liverwort.
This plant has for many years been found to be of
singular virtue in the cure cf affections of the Liver.
More recently it was ascertained thnt It possessed
great power in arresting bleeding at the lungs, coughs
of a chronic character, etc., and of essential service iti
all diseases of a pulmonary character.
Tnr.
This article is now universally acknowledged to be
the most healing and efficient application for diseased
or decaying lungs,or any portion of the tlerhy or mus
eulnr parte of the human body. Its medicinal and
preservative qualities won-understood by- the Egyp
tians in the early ages of the world, and no doubt now
exists among scientific men, thnt the preparation used
in the embalmment of bodies, was composed princi
pally of tliisingredicnt In later ages it was found to
be in universal useamong the aborigines of America,
and at this day it is their principal, and, in fact, only
medicine for an unsound state of the lungs, or sny
approach to it. Those who are acquainted with the
history of this hardy race of men, know that a death
from Consumption is unknown among them! The
medicul faculty tit all countries appear to have be
come aware of the great healing properties of this
article, and are now introducing it in their practice.
Dr. Buchan, of England; Dr. Crichton, of St. Peters
burg; Dr.LaPrieure.of Paris; and the distinguished
Dr. Cooper, have been in the habit of combining it
with other articles in their prescriptions, and with
entire succpas.

T ANDliETU’S GARDEN SEED .—T9
1a PURCHASERS OF GARDEN SEEDS. It la
self evident, that unless the seeds which we may
sow, ure good in all respects, It will bo.fully to ex
pect favorable results—cither we shall be disappoint
ed by theii; not vegetating, or what is still mora
vexatious,, find, after careful culture, that the variety
is worthlessHow many from their own experi
ence cun estimate the auuuyauce of such an event I
Conscious of theroom for improvement, and assured
that the seeds man who should justly be entitled te
confidence, would receive ample support, the foun

with the determination to sell nothing but whnt was
worthy of credit; and that they might tho more cer
tainly accomplish their object, resolved to produce,
as far as possible, the seeds which they should vend;
experience having shown them tiiat most imported
seeds could not be relied on, much less those casual
ly collected, and sold to dealers.—Tile result was as
tney had foreseen :—unlimited public confidence.
The concern thus conducted, has been gradually en
larged, and is now the most extensive of its kind ia
America ; supplying not only much of the demand
in the Middle, YVestern nnd Southorn States, but ex
porting to the YVest Indies, South America and the
British Posessions in Asia. DAVID LANDRETH.
