This Liniment was the discovery of the late Dr. So
lomon, of Gilead House, Liverpool, a graduate of the
College of Surgeons in Dublin, aud was used with
great success throughout England during a period of
15 years, sir.ee which it has become the property of
the present proprietor, the grandson of the Into doc-
ter; and during the time ithas been introduced into
this country over 1000 certificates have been received,
speaking in the highest terms of its pain releiving
qualities ; and to prove wlmt it is represented to be,
every agent is ordered to refund the money should it
fail to give reliel when used according to the drections,
A few certificates are given.

Having used in my family, witli tiie most complete
success, Dr. Tobias’s Venetian Liniment for croup,
oough, headache pain in the limbs, sere throat, Ac,, I
led it no more thiui an act of justice to the Doctor to
give this certificate ; and the speedy cures it has affec
ted, have been most astonishing. 1 am never without
a bottle of it in my house, and am sure no one will re
gret trying it.
SOPHIA COHEN, 261 Ninth street.
Certificate of Mrs. W. E. Cornish.
Dr. Tobias—Sir : One ol my children was severely
attacked with croup. I used your Venetian Lini
ment which gave immediate relief, and I really think
it was the means of saving my child’s life. Under
no consideration would I be without a bottle in my
house. I nlso consider it a most certain remedy for
scalds and bruises, having thoroughly tested it for the
same. *

nearly a ton weight, tho fall gave way and precipita
ted deponent, with the stone, into the sewer, a distance
of over fifteen feet, striking him on the back and
shoulder, which so severely jammed and bruised de
ponent, tliathe was taken up insensible and thought
to be killed. Dr. Tobias was immediately 6ent ior,
and applied the Venetiun Liniment, which'so revived
this deponent that in a few minutes ho wa able to
speak ; and by the constant use of this most valuable
preparation, lie was sufficiently recovered to attend
to his business as usual,in the short space of four days,

B LACKWOOD’S MAGAZINE AND THE
BRITISH QUARTERLY REVIEYVS.-Owing
to the lute revolutions and counter-revolutions among
tiie nations of Europe, which have followed each
other in such quick succession, and of which “ the
end is not yet," the leading periodical:: of Great Brit-
a n have become invested with a degree of interest
hitherto unknown. They occupy a middle ground
between thehnsty, disjointed, and necessarily imper
fect records of the newspapers, and tiie elaborate
and ponderous treatises to be furnished liy the histo
rian at a future day. The American Publishers, there
fore, deem it proper to call renewed attention to
these Periodicals, and the very low prices at which
tliey are off ered to subscribers. The following is
their list, viz :
THE LONDON QUARTERLY REVIEW,
THE EDINBURGH REVIEW,
THE NORTH BRITISH REVIEW,
THE WESTMINSTER REVIEW,
BLACKWOOD'S EDINBURGH MAGAZINE.
in these periodicals are contained the views mod
erately, though clearly and firmly expressed of
the three grout parties in England—Tory, YVhig
and Radical— “ Blnckwood” find the “ London
Quarterly,” aro Tory; the “ Edinburgh Review,”
YY'liig: and the “ YVcstminster Review,” Liberal.
The “North Brill,h Review" ewes its establishment
to the last great ecclesiastical movement in Scotland,
nnd is not. ultra in its views on any one of the grand
department of human knowledge ; it was originally
edited hy Dr. Chalmers, und now. since his death,
is conducted by his son-in-law, Dr. Ilnnnn, associated
with Sir David Biewstcr. Its literary character is ol
tiie yegy highest order. Tho “ Westminster,” though
reprinted under that title only, in published in Eng
land under the title of the “ Foreign Quarterly and
YVestmihster," it being in fact n union of the two
Reviews formerly published nnd reprinted under se
parate title. It was, therefore, the advantage by this,
combination, of uniting in one work the best, featurcs'
oi both as heretofore issued.
Tiie above Periodicals are reprinted in New York,
immediately on their arrival by the British steamers,
in a beautiful clear type, on fine white paper, nnd are
faithful copies of the originals. Blackwood's Mag-
