[THE MORNING NEWS. The Nets' Party. Wo would suggest to tho new party which was Latched up in Macon a few days since, the propriety of Lulsrging. if not their platform, at least their name [filename by which the party was christened is “Un- Li] sad Southern Rights Party.” Now wo would (ujfgst that tho name ho changed to Southern Rights mw Hail Columbia Star Spangled Runner Juc.li- i lhpubllesm Whig Yankee Doodle Democratic 1 Such a name would, In tho hnnds of skillful goguei, servo ns a sort of political scop-net, Indented every thing afloat. We would also suggest Lattiny have their platform handsomely printed on tatinaudirnmed, with the following paragraph against fesiitunce on the part of the -South, in largo capitals, lo be presented to the ditlorent abolition societies in pecounlry. 7.%Thefinal result of the whole matter would be, lint the oumtrs would be compelled to abolish slavery ns,If defence—because the property itself will become elution, and they would have no means left to sup- f The entire platform would give much aid and com- lirtto tile laborers in the cause, hut the admission [f Southern cleponfen;o contained in this clause, would be hailed as a bright omen of triumph. IA Goon Example. The Post Master at Eufulu, Idalmma, lias notified the editor of tho National Era, b abolition paper of Washington that ho will no |>ogcr deliver the paper to subscribers in tnat viciu- ", because ho considers in an incendiary publics- Goad Knit It of Massnclinsctts. A convention ol the Whig party of Massachusetts was held last week at Worcester, to nominate can didates lor State Officers. The convention publish ed mi address and series of resolutions. Wo wislt the entire address could ho read by every Southern man, as lrom it our people would learn how much of * pi nee and security” we have gained by the recent Compromise. Tho extracts given will illustrate tho good faith of Massachusetts. T ho address grumbles, Bomowhat over tho settle ment of tnc Texas boundary, mid imitates that much better terms for the North would have been insisted on, if it had not been for flu; defiant attitude ol* Ton as, mid tlio reasonable certainty that to get what they wanted they would have to light for it. The abolition of the slave trade in tho District of Co lumbia is hailed as another trumph, groat in itself, and still greater in the fact that the “ultimate doom of slavery itself, within tho limits of the District, is al.-p involved in this welcome enactment.” The fugitive slavo law, the “compensation" to the South lor all the enormous surrenders of right nnd power mid safety in the other hills, is denounced by tho mnssnehusetts address, and the trial of the fug gitive by a jury is demanded ns an amendment to it before it can meet tho the approval of the State. In concluding the review of these topics, tho ad dress says: “If Massachusetts could have legislated for the whole country, sonic further forms and provisos would have been secured. Hut as a whole, we think the people of the North have gained the substance. The admission of California Jins turned the scale of Empire. The dominion of slavery lias tied, anil tlmt oi freedom 1ms returned. Tho Republic, us a whole is free.” This is the language of victory, and it it moreover the language of truth. The North has indoed gain ed the substance—the sceptre has indeed been sur rendered to abolition. I.et us see how long they mean to use it. We quote two of tho resolutions appended to the address. Resolved, That Massachusetts avows iter unal terable determination to maintain all the principles mul purposes she has, iu time past, affirmed and rc- aflirmed, in relation to tile extension of Slavery ; and the measure of success which hits attended her exertions, is a new incentive to continue and perse vere in all constitutional efforts, till the great and good work shall be accomplished and perfected. 6. Resolved, That it is the duty of all true friends, of freedom, in and out of Congress, to watch the progress of tiie prcient free Territories ol New Mexico and Utah, and to favor the adoption of all practicable measures to secure their earlv admission as States into the Union, with constitutions like that of their elder and free sister, California. Glorious measures of pence are they, which offer “new incentives to continue and persevere” in the aggression and injuries that constituted tho original ground of dissention.
