The United States Marshal in this city has now In his possession warrants for tho arrest ot u large nutp bcr of fugitive slaves. Much excitement prevails among the negro popu lation. Tho court-house hns been surrounded by them all the morning. According to accounts they are determined to resist, even to the shedding of blood, any attempt at carrying back to slavery their colored brethren. A negro named Satinel, who has resided here three or four years, has been poitited out by his master. The impression is that serious consequences will follow if an attempt be made to arrest him. It is said that several arrests have been already made secretly, and that one or more are in prison In Leverett street. The judge was interroga ted this morning iu reference to the subject by ne groes and their abettors, but ho would not answer either pro or con. He declared, however, that all the examinations it any toc^k place, should no made public and in the court-house. The excitement increases every mo ment. The negroes are mustering strongly, with the intention of making a forcible demonstration, should they positively ascertain whether or not any of their brethren have been arrested. This is by no means a Creditable state of utiiiirs, and it is hoped the good people of Boston will so regard the integrity and sanctity ot the law as to put au immediate stop to such attempts at its violation. Murdered by his Son.—On Thursday week a man, named John Smith, was instantly killed in Waterbor- ough, Maine, by his son. The murdered man was intoxicated and Waa beating his wile, when tile son interfered and struck liis father u blow across the neck with a club, killing him in uu instant. The young man has been arrested. Gen. TheJExecutive Comm ttoe ut Washington, of tho central authority of the United States, have just issu ’d another circu lar to the governors and coraraitees of the several States, on tho subject of the forthcoming display, at Loudon, of the industry of all nations. This Central Committee has been advised of the appointment of Comn i tees to act in behalf of the’eitizena of the fol lowing States, viz: Maine, Rhode Island, New York, New .Jersey, Mississippi, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, South Carolina, Alabama, Now Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Ohio and Indiana. The present call is made, that the citizens of States which have not throught their Governors, responded to the previous request, may not be disappointed on discovering, When too late to be remedied, that their productions are to be|precluded from the fair altogether. The Committee adda; The articles must be shipped in time to reach Lon don prior to tile first day ot March, subsequent to which they cannot be admitted to the exhibition. To those States which make no report through their committees before the 1st of December, specify ing the amount of space required, no allotment will he made, but the entire amount will be immediately assigned to those which may have made report, in proportion t j the requirements of each, and publica- tion thereof be made accordingly. The committee is highly gratified in being able to state that such as-urance has been received from the Presid-uit of the United States and the Secretary of the Navy as to justify the expectation that a public vessel will be commissioned to convey to London all articles (destined lor the exhibition,) which may be approved by the Central Authority. As has been before stated the apace appropriated at London to the whole United States is 85,000 square feet, one half of which will he pussage way.
