The Union op the Oceans.—Tho route of com'
muuicatiou from Funuma to (lorgonn, has been sur
veyed, and put under contract. Of the prospect of
the country, through which this route is to run for
commercial ndvumagos, the means of supporting a
large population, Ac,, the liighott unticiputiuns are
indulged. Extensive forests of Muhognny trees, rich
mincrul deposits, situations of healthiul resort and
safe commodious harbours, are found everywhere;
and it is confidently predicted that R few years, wil
find the country busy with uu enterprising und ad
vancing people.
Equully ardent hopes stimulate the exertions of
those engaged on the Nlccrsgua route. On opening
the map, one will see the bale of Nicaragua forming
a considerable internal sea .u the country dividing
the Atlantic and Picifle o am. i f rom thence the
river 8t Juan llowa to the Y-entUS. The distanceis
olie hundred and Hour . On the route of this
fiver the C*nal is to bo constructed r.t e coBt ol $3,-
COO.IKIO. The Cattails to bo completed in twelve
years ; hikI the strongest guurruntees furnished the
State holding sovereignty over the country. Under
the contract, large rev- hues must accrue o it; and
one can scarcely Compass in Imagination, the won
derful effects on tho trade of the world, which this
avenue will open. A few years more, ftiid what has
long been a dreamy speculation, will he realized.—
The waters of the two oceans will mingle; und
peace, commerce, agriculture, and manufactures, will
bind men of ull nations in indissoluble bonds.—
