ALLCOCK’S I’LASIEHJi
THE MEDICATED INDIA RUBBER PLASTER
Of the Nineteenth Century.
M ISTORY—The history of the.c plaster* would
occupy more space thau can be spared in those
s. Suffice it to sav, that the most eminent chem
ists and physioiaiis of tne United Status and of Europe
were consulted as to thoir compoiition. But it was left
to Mr. Allcock, whofor seven years had the entire charge
of Messrs. Rushton's Astor House store, to perfecttheui
for public use. They are made porous, so that the eva
poration of th* perspiration can go on sufficiently whore
the plaster is applied, without, as with other plasters,
causing the accumulation of acrid fluid, which corodes
the akin and occasions many uunleuaunt sensations, not
accessary for the cure or alleviation of affectioue for
Which a plaster is usually applied.
They are tonic and oarmicativo, which renders them
of poculiar value in many affections of the chest and
bowels, mors especially when a nervous character;
they in fact warm, and to a certain extent, vitaliio the
part upon which they are applied.
Theae strengthening, warming, and pain-relieving
plasters, w ill be found invaluable in weaknoss of the
bAck, ohronic rheumatism, and contractions of the mua-
les; neuralgia, local nervous affections; in asthma,
and pains in the side or ohest, especially when proceed-
sense of coldness
ing from dyspepsia or weakness,
at the nit of tiie stomach; in chronic
lions olthe kidneys; in coses of sprains, strains, c
bruises ; and ia nearly all cases where a local pain o
recent affec-
fimonlals, more particularly to the letter from Dr. 1.
T. Henderson, whom these plasters of Mr. AUcock
cured of a nervous disease of the bowels of many year*
Dr. T. Allcock,
Sir I have boon suffering undir a severe attack of
neuralgie disease of my bowels for years, with hyper-
neuralgio disease of my bowels for years, with hyper-
throphy of the heart, aod have tried everything known
to the practice of medloine from tho very best M. Il’s.j
but truth prompts me to say that yoar piaster* have
given me more permanent relief than anything else 1
have used, and I believe will produce a perfect care. I
am wonderfully pleased with the counter-irritant effect
of your plaster, for it is produced in such a mild and
gradual way, as well as the invigorating action it gives
to the oapiliAry circulation around the parts to which
they are applied, with the great nervons sedative influ
ence they exert upon all nervous diseases.
1 jin conclusion, permit me to say, that I have had ex
perience of the qualities of the piasters heretofore in
use, but must place yours at the nead of them ail. Ev
ory medical taaa who becomes acquainted with them,
will assuredly recommend his patients to use no other
Medicated India Rubber Plaster of Dr. Ailoock.
“ Yours very truly.
