OBITUARY.
Died, In Rt. Marys, (la., on the 4th Inst., FAMUKL
CLARK, aged twenty-two years, flvo months ami
eleven days.
For four years he had been a student of the Mili
tary Institute at Marietta, da., and after an bouot
able graduation, had but a short time sluco return
ed to tit. Marys, his native home, an 1 many very
dear friends, with a heart bounding with Ufa and
teeming with the sweetest anticipations of the fu
ture. But though his eyes beamed brightly, bis
lips sullied sweetly, and hla vlvhl Imagination
painted glowing pictures of happiness and perhaps
fame to come—though hls face was radiant with
health and Ids step froe snd bold with youth—
though he met life dally and dallied with It as n
blessing of long duration, his feet wore dally snd
honrly on the verge of the grave and his hands
grasping the shadows of Eternity, tor a mounter
though Invisible, nevertheless terrible, luy couch
ant at the very spring of life, drinking, with fiery
and Iniatlate tongue, the gashing stream of vitali
ty, and blasting with Its Upas breath the scarce
formed bloasotna In tho garden of his heart. With
out a fear or thought 01 death, he laid hla head upon
that sick pillow, trusting soon to rise In better
health. But, alas! for human hopes. lie was
warned of tho approaching struggle-was told
that ho must ceaso to hope—to give up all earth,
with Its delusive brightness—that he must die—
Tears tromlded on hls cheeks-Ids only reply—yet
what a volume contained In those agony-fraught
drons. They told of hopes blasted—every cherish-
od tie of earth, dear to hls heart as life Itself, sev-

Theatrioal—Mr- Fleming’s Benefit.
The theatrical season was brought to a
close on Monday night, by the compli
mentary benefit to manager Fi.kmiNO,
which, we take pleasure injsaying, was in
deed a flattering testimonial to that gentle
man of the favorable appreciation of his
managerial efforts by our theatrical public, ered at ablow. The glowing picture<of hi.• Happy
.... future here clouded and swept away like the frost
work of winter before the noon day sun of summer.
But he was not without strength In the time of
trial—doubly armed by the spotless purity o hls
life and a firm reliance In hls Chrlgtaln faith, he
met death like a hero and triumphed over the
grave. Hls friends, who were numerous, visited
him dally at hls request and on separating for Ibe
night, he would extend bis hand au 1 bid them fare-
w II. as though taking hls llnal and last adieu; but
the morrow would And him still living, and they
again around hls bedside, nn.l thus he lingered un
til the 4th lust., when he commenced sinking, and
a« thes in went down, leaving the mellow, d halo
of hls glory yot trembling on the western hills and
sky, hls spirit, freed from mortal bounds, spread Its
wings on that flight beyond the bouuis of time.—
Then weep not friends that he has passed away ;
be comforted that your loss Is hls eternal gain, ami
hlsrplrtt now, like a chastened gem, rests on the
bosom of Its Uod. Ills memory Is all that Is left
you and will always be troasured. Did ho say-
plant flowers on my gravo?” Yos, and hls spirit
often looks down on you and upon that grave, ver
dant with the thousand flowers you have planted
there, distilling perfumed tear-drops ou tho sod.—
Thoso flowers speak to the passing stranger In a
language more beautlfhl than a thousand richly
carved monuments could do of the estoern of those
he has left behind. He Is gone—never again will
bis fond familiar volco be heard among you In inu-
In laughter, lu converse or In song. That
voice Is hushed—tho heart that won you to hls
Able Is pulseless and cold—the eye that so often
looked kindly to yours Is #eol*d—the band that so
warmly grasped yours Is nerveless and withered.
"Thou art gone from us, brother.

But HUMPHREYS IIOMfKOPATUIO DYSPEP
SIA PILLS—a simple medicated sugar pill—have
cured hundreds of the worst and most obstinate
cases. This is done simply by improving the tone
and restoring the Integrity of the digestive organs,
from which result good appetite, regular habltR, a
clear head, and buoyant spirits. Such a medicine Is
a gen., and only requires to be known to bo appre
