the Confederate Stales Senate, ou Monday last,
toe House bill to preveut fraud in the Quarter
master’s sod Commissary's Departments, and
the obtaining, uuder false preteuse, transports
t\on for private property, was amended by the
adoption of a substitute. The bill, as thus
amended was passed. It prohibits all officers
charged with the safe keeping, transfer or dis
bnrsernent of public moueys, or purchasing
supplies for the government, from buying or
speculating iu, directly or indirectly, any aiti
cle of food or clothing, or material of. which
tbe save is made.
In the House the Seuate bill to abolish the
office of Regimental Commissary, und devolving
the duties ibereol upon the. Quartermaster, was
taken up, and itaobjects having beeu explained
by Mr. Clay, of^Alabatna, the bill was passed.
