Mr Editor: The earnest appeal ot President Davis
to the planters of this country ou the subject of
raising a large provisiou crop this year, baa been
caved and read with groat Interest by all our
dit.rs. This paper, like 'all the public papers that

timed, abounds with good seuae, aud la lull of hope
ana encouragement to our people. Those ol us who
arc in thuarmy, feel that this Is a matter Of vital im
portance, involving as* it does our liberties aud all
that we hold sacred and dear on earth; and vie would
join our President in u giog upon our frieuda at pome
ihe necessity of planting anything aud everything
mat can sustain man aud beast, and to plant nothing
