The Augusta Chronicle has been luruitdicd by
one ot the Judges u! the Supreme Court with
the following note of the principal points de
cidcd by them at the late Milledgcville term, in
n case of impressment of sugar iu the hands ol
a merchant •
1. The, Cmigrcfs of tlm (Confederate Stales
have the const itulioual power to authorize, by
sialiiio, the ac<.-mutilation of suppliestor fulure

3. In such a case, in the abseucc ol othei

not be sustained.
•i. ,j„,t compensation should lie ascertained
by the appraisement of the property impressed

5. Where there is no sullicient evidence tiiat

i urgent necessity, admitting ol uo delay
the olllcer he held to have taken the prop

law, and a pioreeding tiy possessory warrant,
under the m i of 18fif, is an appropriate and
rightful remedy.
