by both such fine and imprisonment, in
the discretion of the court.

Francisco, in the State of California,
eor firmed to the eity of San Francisco by

United States for the northern district
ot Calfirnia, ent-red on the eighteenth
day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-five, be, and the same are bere
by, relinquished and granted to the sa:d
city of San Fraveisco and its suceessors,
and the cla‘m of the said eity tosaid iand
is Ler by confirmed, subjeet, however, to
the reservations and exceptions designa
ted in said desree, and upon the follows~
ing trusts, namely, that all the said land,
n t Leretofore grautea to said city, shall
be disposea of and conveyed by said city
to parties in the borna fide actual posses
sion thereof, by themselves or tenants,
on the passage of this sct, in such quan
tittes arid upon such -terms and condi
tion.s as the legislatuye of the State of

parcels thereof as may be re.erved and
set apart by ordinance of said ety for

in seetion one hundred and ywenty of the
act entitled “An act to provide internal
revenue to suppcert the Government, to
pay interest on the puble debt, and for
other purpases,” approved June thirty,
cighteen bundrel and sixty four, the
words: “all dividends in scrip, or money |
thereafter declared due, and whenever |
the_same shall be payable, to stockhol
ders, policy holders or depositors,” are
hereby declared to mean all dividends

tors, or parties whatsoever, including
uon-residents, wether citizens or aliens |

Sce 4. And be it further enacted,
That wheuever the rates and amounts

shall be the duty of each assessor re
ceiving the same to reduce such rates
and amounts to their equivalent in legal
tender corrency, according to the value
of such coined morey in said curreney
at the time wheu and place. where said
lists or returns are receivable, and which
value the said assessor s all d. termine.
And the lists required by "law .to be
furni~hed to eolleetors by asses-ors shall
in all cases contain the severa' amounts
of taxes or duties assessed, estimated, or
valucd in legal tender currency oniy.
~ Nee. 5 And be it further enacted,
That the provisions of this act shall, so
far as necessary, apply to all returns,
lists, assessments, and collections re~
quired by the acts .aforesaid in addition
to these above mentioned, by whomso
ever made, returned, asses ed, or eollec
ted, in any meode or for any purpose
whatever. Ard the Cowmmissioner of
Internal Revenue, under the direction of
the Secretary of the Treasury, is hereby
authorized to make all necessary rules
and regulations for carrying this act into
effeet,
