New York, September 11. A London paper of Sunday
July 15 fays, the new Duties on Imports and Exports took
place front and after Friday Just; and no veiled will be per
mitted to fail for a foqpign port without convoy; if they
do, the insurance will bo void, and the vessel be liable to
a heavy penalt). We understand the British manufactured
goods, all of cotton, are exempt from’ the duty of 10s. per
cent, on exportation; all other goods mult pay it when
flopped. The following new duties are payable on exporta
tion: Brandy, 2 i-4cl. per gallon; Geneva, 1 wd. ditto;
Yarn, 3s. per 100 lbs. Clover feed, 2s. 3d. per 11 2 lbs..
Rags, 13s. ,;d. per ton; Flax undressed, 21s. ditto; Hemp
ditto, 1 os. 3d. ditto; Timber, Deals, See. 31. per cent,
on the value; Iron, xos. icd. per ton; Madeira wine,
16s. 6d. per ton; Portugal ditto, 265. ditto;- Soanifli ditto,

THAT many Ladies and Gentlemen, and likeways
other perlbrts of differept occupations, trades, characters,
and dispositions, to whom H used to have free acccfs, have
now either totally forfaken, or associated him with-a com
pany of strangers, with which he cuts a moll ridiculous fi
gure. A young lady, to tlie great mortification of H, was
observing, the other day, that ills made a pretty contrail
with the vallies below; and a gentleman prelent added,
that the oufes were prettily interfperled among the woods,
and that he was fond of earing the bowls in the bevenings;
and he pad mires the arbour which contains so many flops.
Another lady declares flie is orribly afraid at tlie prancing
of a orfty and yet is conllantly lhooting harrows at ann
lefs earts. In the middle of itimnier flie drinks bale at
her meals, and beats barticbob.es without receiving arm
from them. She cites cl weather, but likes a clear eaven;

young wench, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dresses very
neatly, and has-been a house servant. Tliey ‘are well
known about Savannah and moft of the plantations in the
vicinity, where they have always lived till lately. It is.
fuppol’ed they will hirk about the plantation of George
Mitlen, Esq. or fome other in that neighborhood, from
whence they will make frequent vilits to the city. Ten
dollars will be paid for the delivery of either of them se
parately. Fanny run away about two weeks ago, Tout

WHEREAS frauds have been prafitifed in obtaining
warrants for Bounty Lands, due to the Officers
and Soldiers of the late Continental Army, by the produc
tioii offorged niftruiiieiTtS, To check in future such impofijt
tions, it has been thought advisable that all persons having
claims for Bounty Lands, whether in their own right, as
legal n prefentative, or by virtue of any instrument or deed
of transfer, be required to forward their refpettive claims
to the War Office, on or before the firfl day of January,
1799, m order that such claims may be duly examined,
adjusted, and determined upon.
To fubft mtiate such claim a ftriil observance of the rules
heretofore issued from the War Office will be indil'penfablej
and, in addition to what is required by the said rules, the
certificate of the acknowledgment of a deed or power of
attorney inuft also set forth the place of residence and oc
cupation of the claimant or person making such acknow
