October 3. We are happy to announce the fafe arrival
of the Hon. lilbridge Gerry from his late million to Fnfice*
lie arrived here in the United States armed brig Sophia,
Capt. Geddes, from Havre, tall from England. Th ; En
voy was fainted at the castle, and was welcomed by the
huzzas of the citizens afiembled on the wharves. Samuel
Cooper, Esq. waited on liWn on .board the Sophia, and ac
companied tom on (bore, and to bis feat at Cambridge.
In our outer harbor Mr. Gerry dispatched Mr. Hurnph
, reys with communications to the IVefident cf the United
Suites at Quincy.
By the Sophia tve learn that, after Mr. Gerry had ar
rived at Havre, to embark for his native country, Talley
rand was continually prefiing him to return, and it is said
gave fee ret orders to the Commandant to detain the Sophia.

Capt. Kemp failed with the fall trade for America from
Portfmcuth on the 17th of August, under convoy of the
Cleopatra frigate and Pheafalit llooji of war.
The death of Dr. Tredwell makes the 1 ith nh\ fician
all facrifices to the txgmg epidemic in this city.

Sifters:, Stoakes, and fliip Atlantic, Dean, from London,
lall from the Cove of Cork.
The (hips Sitters and Atlantic left the Cove of Cork on
the Bth September, in company with about 100 fail, 88 of
which were Americans, under convoy of the Cleopatra fri
gate and the Phealant (loop of Avar.
On the ift inllant, in lying to in a gale, 28 fail loft the
convoy; and on the 6th the Sifters awl Atlantic spoke the
Commodore j awl parted Avith his consent, in lat. 38. 2c.
long. fio. 25. accompanied by the English letter of marque
St. Andrew, Gapt. Blain r mounting fourteen 12 and 9
pounders, and bound to Savannah.
Oi'lober 19. The armed (hips Lucy, Connolly} Ruby,
Melfroon; and Ann and Sulim* Pickett; which arrived
yeherday, were of the fleet which failed from the Cove of
Cork the Sth September; they parted with the convoy the
1 ft inst.
The Con deflation frigate, Baltimore (loop of Avar, and
Virginia armed brig, are arrived off our harbor, Avaiting the
departure of the vcflcls bound to Havana. The fleet from
this port consists of between 20 and 30 fail, 5 or 6 of
which are armed, and will get under way as loon as the
