, Notice is hereby given,
THAT, agreeably to an adt of Gongrefs of the United
States of America, paired the 28th day of May 4
1796, laying duties on carnages for the conveyance of
persons, and repealing the former acts for that purpose,
there lhall be levied, collected, and paid, yearly and in
every year, in the month of September, upon all carriages
for conveyance of persons, tor his or her ovyi use, or to
be let out tor hire, or for the conv'cyance of passengers,
the several duties following, viz.

of Savannah, for the purpole of receiving entries and du
ties on carriages poffeffeil by persons within the counties of
Chatham and Effingham. *
Notice is also given,
That he will receive applications and grant licenses for
retailing spirits and wines; one for retailing wines in Ids
quantities than 30 gallons, and one for retailing spirituous
liquors in less quantities than 20 gallons.

ON the 2d day oi this instant was apprehended, and
committed to gaol in Screven county, a Men of a
dark complexion, about 5 feet 11 inches high, who lays
his name is Peter Stroud, and that his relidence is in O
range county, North Carolina. -Aiib was taken with him,
a bay gelding, about 141 hands high, black mane and
taiL no brands. 7 -ar 8-vears old, ;

acres, in Camden county, Rate .aforefaid, formerly the
property of Jermyn Wright, bounded by Crocked river to
the northwert part, southwest, and northeast, mortgaged
by the said John Howell to his excellency George Ma.

the security of the sum of fix hundred and twenty-four
pounds, (equal to two thoufiand fix hundred and {'evenly,

bearing even date with the said mortgage, and on motion

gage, be paid into court within twelve months from this
date, and unless the fame (hall be so paid the equity of

UPON the petition ot his excellency James Jackson,
governor of said Rate, for himlelf and his successors
in office, praying the forcclofure of the equity of redemp
tion of all that tract oFland, in Liberty county, in the
fork of Canouchie, of two hundred and fifty acres, fold
as Roger Kelfall’s property, mortgaged by the said Anan
ias Cooper to his excellency George Mathews, then go
vernor and commander in chief in and over the laid date
of Georgia, and to his successors in office, for the security
of the sum of one hundred and two pounds, three fiiillings,
and five pence halfpenny, (equal to four hundred and thir
ty-seven dollars and eighty-eight cents) contained in a
bond from the laid Ananias Cooper to the aforelaid George
Mathews, late governor aforefaid, and his successors in
office, bearing even date with the said mortgage, and on
motion of mr. Bulloch, attorney general, If is ordered ,
That the principal, interest, and colts, upon the said bond
and mortgage, be paid into court withiii twelve months
from this date, and •unless tlte fame ihali be so paid tha e

UPON ciie petition of his excellency James Jackson,
governor of laid state, for himlelf and his successors

tion of a tract of land, containing one hundred and sixty--
fix acres and two thirds, in the county of Liberty, being
one third part of the Diftilleiy land, fold at the sales of
confifcated estates as the property of Roger Kell’all, mort
gaged by the laid James Spalding in his lifetime to his ex
cellency George Mathews, then governor and commander
in chief in and over the laid state of Georgia, and to his
successors in oftice, for the security of the sum of four
hundred and fix pounds, four {hillings, and eleven pence,
(equal to one thousand Even hundred and forty-one dol
lars and fix cents) contairfed in a bond from the said James
Spalding to the aforefaid George Mathews, late governor
aforefaid, and his successors in office, bearing even date
with the laid mortgage, and on motion of mr. Bulloch,
attorney general, it is ordered, That the principal, inte
rest, and colls, upon the laid bond and mortgage, be paid
into court within twelve months from this date, and un
