The erudition of Mr. Wesley hands in competition
•with the firjl writers of the present aye. He was of a
deep penetrating mind matured by long experience in
fcientific studies. He willingly embraced any toil which
blight promote the wisdom and bappinefs of mankind.
With this view he compiled System of Natural
Philosophy*
This work is not too difFufe, not exprefled ip many
words, but comprised in so moderate a compass as not to
require any large expence either of time or money
Not maimed or imperfeX; but containing whatever is
known with any degree of certainty , either with regard
to the earth or the heavens , and this in the plainest
dress; limply and nakedly expreft, in the moft clear, easy ,
and intelligible manner, that the nature of things would
allow To which are added, the moft valuable difeev
eries both of our own and the foreign societies, ancient
and modern . The learned have admired this performance
as a moft ufful and infruftive compendium.
CONDITION S.
I. This work will be neatly printed, with anew type,
on fine medium paper, in five volumes, each volume
cont ining nearly four hundred pages duodecimo.
11. A volume will be published every three months,
neatly bound and lettered, payable on delivery, 1 dol
lar and 40 cents.
111. Subscribers names will be annexed to the last vo
lume.
IV. An elegant portrait of the Author will be given as
a frontftpiece, executed by the firft American artist.
V. As soon as fufficient encouragement is met with the
work shall be put to press.
VI. Those who obtain ten fubferibers, and are refponfibfe
so- ‘heir payment, shall receive one Copy gratis.

PROSPECTUS.
THE fubferibers having determined tryeftablifh a Re
publican Newspaper at Savannah, in the state of
Georgia, offer to tne consideration of the public the follow
ing conditions:
I The pa er shall he entitled, <{ GEORGIA REPUB
1’ 2 AN, or, STATE INTELLIGENCER.”
11. It shall lie published twice a week, on paper of good
quality, and a type fair and legible. The (heet shall bfc
las large as any now printed in that state.
111. The price of the paper will be fix dollars a year,
paid half in advance.
IV. Advertisements will be inferted'at the prices cuf
tovnary in Savannah.
%* The publication fliall commence by the firft of July
next.
The principles which will guide the Editors of this pa
per are those for which a Sydney and a Hampdr-nperilhed;
.which produced the immortal Declaration of American
Independence; which supported the patriots of our revolu
tion through an eight vears arduous war, or led them nobly
to die in defence of the liberties of their country; and
which were re-aflerted in the election of our present federal
adminiftratiop. Personal reflexions will be studiously a-
Voided; hut when the public good demands a ferutiny of
character they will not fliun the performance of a duty.
They will endeavor to difFufe information on all fub
jeXs iuterefting to agriculture, commerce, manufaXures,
or science, whether of a general nature, or relative to the
state individually. Those who seek amusement will, it is
hoped, find in their columns wherewith “ to pass the vacant
hour.”
While they will never facrifice their principles, nor be
come slumbering watchmen in the service of the people,
they will not shrink from the publication of correX faXs,
por resort to falfehood in support of their ow.i opinions.
The feelings of the moment muff pass away, but principles
are eternal.

tizens is refpeXfully solicited.

JUNE TERM, 1802.
THE following persons being drawn as Jurors to serve
in the Court of Mayor and Aldermen, to wit,
William Crawford, Frederick Herb, Frederick Shick,
aid Frederick Bollinger, and, being duly furamoned,
did make default, it is ordered, That the defaulters be
in the sum of ten dollars each, unless an excuse, on
oath, be filed with the Clerk, on or before the firft day of
next Court; and that this order be publilhed in the Ga
at-ttes of this city twice fucce/fivelv.

THOSE ‘mterefted in the Company, and who have not
signed the deed of trust, are hereby notified, that
the fubferiber will attend at the city of Wathington, on
the 20th of December next, to give them an opportunity
of complying with this regulation of the Company.

EXTRACT from an Aft, entitled , “ An Aft to revise
and amend, an Aft Supplementary to an Aft for re
gulating the Town of Augusta; and to amend an
Aft , entitled , An Aft for regulating the Town of
Savannah, and Hamlets thereof; and for other
Purposes;” passed the 13 tb February, 1797.
TyE it enafted, by the Senate and House of Represent-
D atives of the State of Georgia, in General Assembly
met, That every owner of a lot in the said city, and
every citizen of this state who is an occupier of an house,
and Shall have resided in the said city twelve months pre
vious to the day of eleXion of Aldermen for the said city,
shall convene, in some place to be appointed and publicly
notified by the Mavor and Aldermen now in office, at least
ten days previous to the day of eleXion, within the said
ward in which thev reside or own a lot as aforesaid, and
eleX by ballot one Alderman, who shall be a freeholder in
the said city, to represent them in the City Council there
of: Provided , that no house or tenement shall qualify
more than one person to a vote.
And be it further enafted, That if any person shall
offer to vote who is not known to the presiding :* igistrate
to be a citizen of this state, and otherwise qualified as a
foresaid, he shall not be allowed to vote, unless he shall
produce, a certificate from some court of record, properly’
authenticated, of his being qualifi J d as such, and having
taken the oaths of allegiance in conformity to the ads of
this or the L T nited States.
And be it further enafted, That no person holding an
appointment under the Corporation of the said city, and
for which he receives a salary or other compensation for his
services, shall be entitled to vote for an Alderman during
the time for which he holds Iris appointment.
