Office of Difeount and Dcpofke.
Savannah, Auguf 20, 1802.
THE following REGULATIONS are publilhed for
the information of those who may have b.ifinels to ;
tranfatl at said Office.
ifc That the Office shall, for the present, be opened
on every day, (Sundays, public falls, jbankfgiving days,
the 4th of July> and Christmas day, excepted) from 9
o’clock in the morning until 3 o’clock In the afternoon.
2d. That the Office thall receive and pay specie coins
according to the rates and value that have been or 1 hall fie :
established by Congrefe; and no £old, (ilver, or copper,
coined wit ban tlie United States, other than such as is or
fliall be authorized by Congress, shall be received.
3d. That the said Office will take charge of the specie
of those who chcofe to place it there, ( expence)
and shall keep it, fubjedl to their order, payable- at fight;
and will receive depofites of ingots of gold, bars of iilver,
wrought plate, and other valuable articles of final! bulk,
in the fame marmoF, and return them on demand of the
depositor.
4th. That payments made at the Office shall be ex
amined 4% the time, and no error suggested afterwards shall
be corre£ted. .>.
sth. That difeounts fliall be made, on bills, notes, or
acceptances, pay able in dollars, upon peribnal fecuritv
only, with at leaf! two refponfiblc names, (one of which
muff be a relident in Savannah) for any term not exceed
ing sixty days; that three days of grace be allowed on ail
bills, notes, or acceptances* payable at the Office* and
that difeount be taken for the fame, as well as for the day
On which the difeount is made* • /
6th. That difeounts fliall be made at the rate of 6
per cent . per annum; aird such notes, bills, or accept
ances, as are offered for. difeount, fliall be delivered under
cover, directed to the Gafhier of the Office of Difeount
and Depofite, on Monday, and laid before the Directors
on TuefHav, when the difeount shall be fettled and made
known on that day, if necessary, and the following day,
in every week, it shall be entered in the beck of the ap
plicant. ,
7th. No note or bill shall be received at this Office,
for difeount or collection, of a less sum than. 50 dollars;
hnd all notes Cent in for difeount or collection muff be en
dorsed by those who fend them to Bank.
Bth. No man who owes the Customhouse fliall have
difeount without another name than the firft endorser.
9th. That, on failure of payment before (hutting of
the Office on the last day of grace, the note, bill, or ac
ceptance, fliall be protefied, and notice given on that day
to all and every endorser; and when the last day of grace
falls on Sunday the bill or note must be paid the preced
ing Saturday.
icth. That all notes, bills, or acceptances, intended
for coi left ion at this Office, tnuft be lodged at least one
day before the fame becomes due, and shall, as to notice,
demand, and protest, be proceeded with as notes or bills
difeounted, unlels the person depaffting the fame direCt
otherwile in writing.
nth. That the non-payment of any bill, note, or
acceptance, when presented to an endorser, under protest,
fliall equally affeCl his credit with that of the accepter or
payer of said bill* note, or acceptance, so protested.
‘l2th. That the Cashier of this Office shall cauie any
base gold or lilver coin, offered irr payment, depeffte, or
for change, at this Office, to be cut in such a manlier as
to render it notorious and impafiable, and to be returned
to the person offering the fame#

li state may have against: the Creek Nation of Indians,
“ wbfeh said claims shall, before they are exhibited, be

K terefted’perfons, taken and certified by any judge, justice
of the peace, or clerk of the superior or inferior courts,”
having passed both Branches or the Legislature, and re
ceived the aftent of the Executive,
1t h ordered, That all persons having claims against
the'Creek Nation of Indians, for property of any deferip
tion by them taken or plundered, be. and they are hereby
required to transmit the feme as foon’f.s possible to the Ex
ecutive Department, authenticated in the manner by the
afore recited rc-folution pointed out.

Members in the House of Representatives oi the. United
States, Be it therefore enabled , by the Senate and H;iufe
of Representatives of the State of Georgia, in General
Affembjy met, That, at tlie general election which ffidllbe
held for Members of the State Legislature, on tlie ftrft
Monday in Ocfolier next, and at every fecund general e
lec\ion thereafter, the Electors at Rich elections fliall be
entitled to vote for four persons to represent this state in

THAT an application will be made to the Justices of
the Inferior Court of the County of Chatham, at
the expiration of nine niont'rs from the date, for ah order
for the sale of the following two tracts of land, to wit:
All that tract or parcel of land, containing 1000 acres,
lituate, lying, and being, in the county of Effingham,
butting and bounding northeast by Denmark’s, vacant, and
Rester’s land, and on all other sides by vacant land,
granted to Justus H. Scheuber, deceased, the 20th day
of February, 1795: Aifo, that other traeft or parcel of
land, containing- 1000 acres, in the laid county, butting
and bounding east by Lane’s and Ironmonger’s land, north
west by Lane’s and Martin’s land, and on the other lide by
vacant land, also granted the 20th of February, 1795, to
the said Justus H. Scheuber, deceased: Being part of the

AFTER the expiration of nine months from the date
hereof application will be made, in pursuance of the
aft of the legislature in such case made and provided, to
the honorable the inferior court of Camden county, for
pennillion to fell ■forty-five thousand acres of land on the
waters of the Great Satilla, being in grants of one thou
sand acres; -also one water lot in the town of St. Mary’s,
in the county of Camden aforefoid; the fame being the
real estate of James Macomb, late of the laid county of
Camden, deceased, and will be fold for tire benefit of the
heirs or creditors of the laid deceased.

provements thereon, containing 45 acres, in Chat
ham county, bounded weftwardlv by lands of the Estate
of Robert Woodhoule, to the east by lot, to the
south by a trust lot, occupied by Mr. James MTntofh.
Ninety Acres of I .and, ad milling the above, bounded weft
and south by the Mils Minis’s lot and land lately the pro
perty of Alderman Sheftail. A Grant for 400 Acres of
Land for military iervices. Seized as the property of Dr.
Benjamin Tctard, deceased, pointed out by the admini
strator.
All that Lot of Land in Savannah, know;: by the No. 2,
Derby ward, with the improvements thereon, containing
60 feet in width and 90 feet in depth, bounded to the
north on the bay, to the weft by the lot occupied by Mr.
Madden, to the east by Mr. James Wallace’s lot, occupied
by Edward Stebbins, Elq. and Meflrs. Seymour and
Woolliopter, seized as the property of Robert Wood
houfe, deceased, pointed out by the plaintiff’s attorney.
All that Lot of Land in Savannah, known by the No.
20,’ Franklin ward and square, containing 6c feet in width
and 90 feet in depth* bounded to the east by the Baptist
church, and to the weft by Weft Broad street, occupied
by Mr. Roberts and others, fubjeft to the city leale, seiz
ed by virtue of-an execution Gugel and Herb against the
Trustees of the Baptist meetinghouse.
AH that Tract of Land, containing —acres, with,
the Improvements thereon, on Ogechee, bounded by lands
of Bourquiti and Haberlham, Efqrs. occupied by Mr. Jor
dan, seized as the property of liaac Young, deceased.

. Yellow Fever has made its appearance in the City of ’
Philadelphia, J #
It is ordered , That the Health Officer be dire died to
order all ycfiels coming from the Port of Philadelphia to
be djfrobght to at Cockfpur,. and there to perform a qua
nffitinc of fifteen days, including their days of lading, and i
that, during the performance of the laid quarantine, the
woollen ami cotton goods on board shall be, on every f a ; r
day, exposed to the open air, and the holds of the veffds
ventilated in the best possible manner, and that, after that |
tmre* they be [lermiued to come up as l.igli as Five
Fathom Hole, and there remain until they fliall receive
a certificate of health from the Health Officer.
Provided ncvertbelefs, Tliat the above goods fliall be
e'xpofed to die air, and the vdfei ventilated, at leaf! three
days before the said veifel be permitted to come up to the
laid last place, notwithstanding die fifteen days from die
failing ol the said veifel may b#ve before expired.
Audit is further ordered, That the Health Officer
compel the masters or commanders of vessels coming to this
port, with any articles ftibjeft to putrefa&ion, and finding
the fame in a decayed or unsound state, to land such articles
at ally place which thefeid master or commander may think
proper, so that tlie be not higher up the river than
uive Fathom Hole; and that in such case the said veifel
fhali be well ventflafed, at least three days after the dis
charge of such decayed or uufound articles, before Ihe is
allowed to fail up to Savannah.
And it is further ordered, That all persons contraven
ing these orders fliall be prosecuted as the quarantine Jaw
diretts.

THE pilots are hereby ordered to bring all vessels com
ing from Philadelphia to an anchor off Cockfpur, there to
remain and perform a quarantine agreeable to the above
e.dcr of tire City Council.

information having been laid before Coun
cil, that the Yellow Fever has spread considerably
in Philadelphia, and rages at present with great violence,
Resolved, That tlie term of 15 days quarantine, or
dered by the resolution of the 2d instant to be performed
by vessels arriving from that port, be extended to 21 days,
atid that all woollen and cotton goods be exposed, and the
veifel ventilated, at least fix days, in manner direcled by
the said resolution of the 2d instant; and that the Health
Officer govern himfelf in all other refpe&s agreeably td
the said resolution.

WHEREAS information hath been received by the
Mayor that the Yellow Fever rages with violence
in the city of Baltimore, whereupon the Mayor hath
caid’ed a special meeting of Council to be convened, t>*
whom he hath communicated such information,
Wherefore resolved, That velfels coming froth the said
port of Baltimore fliall perform, in all refpe&s, the fame
quarantine as is preferibed to velfels coming from Phila
delphia by tlie resolutions of Council of the 2d and 23d
instant.
Resolved , That, lliould any case occur that, in the 0*
pinion of the Health Officer, a longer term of quarantine
than 21 days may be necelfary to be performed by any
particular veifel, he (the Health Officer) be and he
hereby authorized to order such further quarantine to be
performed as he may think proper.
